Who: Dean and Sam
What: Brotherly love. Working on cars. Beer.
When: Yesterday or so.
Warnings: Swearing and snark.

Dean wandered down to the garage with a sixer of cold microbrew in one hand and some of his tools from the Impala in the other. He set the beers down, looked at the car, and winced. It was gonna need some work, that was for sure. But since when had he ever not liked working on cars?

He popped the top of a beer with the ring on his right hand and took a swig, waiting for Sammy to hurry up and join him.

"First, we should figure out in what order we wanna fix stuff." He wiggled out from under the car and took another swig of his own beer. "First off, I'm gonna check the transmission and see if everything's okay."

He was leaning against the wall, enjoying the cold bubbly feeling that only came from a really good beer, when he looked over at Sam. "Y'okay?"

"I'm great. Fine, actually. I just...never thought we'd be doing *this* one day. Exorcisms, sure, but doin'...guy stuff...with you.." Sam just mumbled the rest of his reply.

"So, transmission. Where is it, and how do we fix it?" He swallowed more beer, and turned on the iPod dock radio that put out incredible sound for something so small. He pulled up his 'Shortbus' playlist; (because that nickname amused him to no end) and waited.

"I know how you feel." Dean shrugged. He'd never admit that he really liked it this way, that this was pretty much what he'd always wanted - the mockery Sam would deliver would likely be endless.

"Just wanna doublecheck the converters, make sure your mainshaft is stable." Dean realized he was probably speaking Chinese to his baby brother, so he tried to think of an way to explain it that made sense. "Basically, this houses most of the big gears that make the car go, so if any of 'em are loose or don't hook up to the mainshaft right, nothing's gonna happen when you rev up."

When Dean heard Zeppelin come on the radio, he nodded a thank-you to Sam, grinning as he took another pull of beer.

"Okay, sounds good." Sam grinned. "Would it be easier if we put the car up on the ramps? That way I think both of us could get under there and you could show me what I'm supposed to see."

There were two, bright red, shiny new ramps from the local car care store that Sam had purchased, along with a socket wrench set and some other tools. He seemed to only be able to find the phillips head when he needed the regular, and vice versa. The creeper Dean was rolling around on was new, too, identical to the other one Sam brought home.

"Oh! Almost forgot. I had keys made for you. For the car. Here." He flipped them to his brother. The store had been very happy to help Sam with all of his new car needs.

"Yeah, that'd help." He grinned and took a sip of his beer, chuckling. "Maybe get you some books and stuff, show you what we're gonna be fixing." Dean went to look over the materials, running his fingers over new wrenches with some satisfaction.

He caught the key and grinned. "When it's all fixed, I'll give this back to you. She's your girl. Got my own."

"Keep it. Just incase." Sam looked down, because this was the garage and not a place for chick flick moments.

The iPod now pumped out Skynard's "Sweet Home Alabama" and he laughed to himself before singing along, loudly and obnoxiously, adding an overdone redneck twang to his voice. Sam gleefully remembered how much it used to piss their father off when he and Dean did this in the car when they were small.

Dean blinked, then shrugged. He knew what his brother was doing, but wasn't going to comment. It did touch him, but of course he'd rather get stitches than say so.

Dean wrinkled his nose at his baby brother's singing voice. "Christ. Don't do that around Roxy, I don't want her learning how to howl."
