Kimber had performed at a large concert earlier that night, and was finally back at her New York apartment. She was relieved to be away from the large crowds, and had spent the last hour in a bubble bath. It was getting late, and she was starting to think about sleep. She'd been keeping odd hours (What crimefighter didn't?) so she wasn't completely exhausted, but there wasn't a lot of thrilling entertainment available this late at night.

Kimber stepped out of the bath, dried off, and drained the water from the tub. She wrapped the towel around herself and padded into the living room to find her phone. She'd been receiving a handful of annoying texts from Mia earlier in the day, but it looked like the girl had backed off.

Lynx moved from building to building, leading him several blocks away from their starting point. Finally, she shot her hook through one of the dark upper story windows of a brick building, and zip-lined inside. The split second she crossed threw the broken glass and into the dark room, a spike of panic went through her system. It was lucky she'd been half-inside, or she might've fallen from the building. Memories came flooding back.

She honestly hadn't been expecting to have such a reaction. Wearing the suit made her feel invulnerable, and when Batman was around, she had something to prove. She'd refused to let herself be emotional when she was out patrolling with him, and this fear was nearly crippling. She fumbled on her belt for a flashlight and dropped it.
