He stood after Belle wandered off, apparently content with the attention she got from him for the time being. He followed after Mary with a small, sheepish smile, taking another cookie from the plate. "It's been a great day. Thanks. I really needed this," he said, earnest about his feelings on the situation. "You really have a way with people. This morning, I was bent out of shape and paranoid about everything. You got me to drop that, at least for a while." Sam stood close, but not enough to be imposing. He wanted to at least kiss her on the cheek in thanks, but if he was completely honest, Sam wanted to do much more than that.
