She blushed brightly. "Well, she is a really cute cat. She's only got one eye and one ear, she just started sleeping on my fire escape." But she caught the gravity of his words, and really hoped that she could attribute the blush to the wine. That was it. Not his smile at all. His teeth were perfect, and stunningly white, and oh, his eyes were green.

How long had it been since she'd been on a date with a human? Not that this was a date, but the answer was never. She'd never been on a date with a human. And when the waiter came to bring their food, she thanked him profusely, having never been so grateful in her whole life for an interruption.
