Gaius and he were doing a very cautious, polite dance around each other, and it was making him feel ill. He was his best mate, and honestly he had started to wonder if he'd ruined everything. Thomas never once had thought of a man, any man, like that and so it had come as an incredible shock to him that Gaius would fancy him. It didn't bother Thomas in the slightest that Gaius was gay, but the fact remained that he wasn't and nothing could be done about it.
It was even worse when he realized how badly he'd hurt his best friend for not feeling the same way. How could Gaius even stand to see his face?
Spending most the time in his rooms, he'd taken up reading. Might as well try to learn a bit of history while he was hiding from everyone who gave his life meaning. His head jerking up from the pages, Thomas felt a cold fear go straight through his spine.
