Melora knew Gaius wasn't okay. She'd been with him pretty much every spare moment she'd had this week. She'd been cheery, and acted like she didn't realize he was pretending. She was better at that than he was, and there were a few times she thought she'd actually made him happy. When he was ready to talk, she would be there for him.
Melora knew all the shortcuts to Gaius' place, and the easiest way to sneak in--no small feat, given that Gaius lived on the palace grounds. She hadn't showed any of their other friends, including Thomas. Not that Thomas would need to sneak around, given that he lived in the palace proper. It took Melora about five minutes to get from her room to Gaius', and she ignored all of the incoming text messages on her way.
"Gaius, open up. I can pick locks, you know." By which she meant she could poke at them until she got frustrated and blasted them off. Nimue didn't really appreciate that much, though.
