Entry tags:han solo, harmony johnson, jaina solo

Who: Han Solo, Jaina Solo and Harmony Johnson.
What: Dinner and seeeeeeeeeeeeeeeecrets.
When: Saturday Night.
Warnings: Awkward tension and oblivious smugglers.

Han was glad that Jaina had dinner planned, since he was hungry enough to eat a wampa. He'd spent most of the day working on the Falcon and had forgotten about lunch. Again. He was still getting used to food on this planet, although Jaina usually found some pretty good eats.

He was actually pretty interested in meeting her friend, though. Han wanted to know more about his kid's life, since he definitely was meeting her late in the game. Wandering into the dining room, he took a seat, and barely remembered to not put his feet on the table.

Dinner usually got started well after she intended in the Solo house. She'd really given up planning around a specific time, and just told people when dinner was ready. Really, she had enough space and money that having a maid would have made a lot of sense, but Jaina didn't want to do that. She'd had enough experience as a child being raised by Winter and other 'staff' that she didn't want to pass that legacy on to her children.

Now that dinner was finished and on the table, Jaina was herding the twins to the sink to wash their hands. She was glad her kids had learned meditation, but they still had all the energy of normal four-year-olds, and containing that was never easy. "Go sit down," she told them, turning Chris by the shoulders to face the table. "Time to eat."

Harmy had gone to the grocery store to get some bread, as it was the only thing they didn't have for dinner. She put her bike in the driveway, walking into the kitchen and grinning when she saw the twins. "Hey, kiddosl" She wore leather pants and a well worn men's undershirt, her long brown hair tied back into a ponytail. Normally she'd have kissed Jaina as she sat down, but she made sure to be on her best behavior. She just set the bread down on the table and went to wash up herself.

Han watched the domestic interlude unfold, as always a little baffled by the turn of events. Less than a month ago, he was in a warzone. Now, he was at a dinner table. With kids.

"Looks great, kiddo," he said with a grin to Jaina.

Jaina lit up when she saw Harmony walk in. So did the kids. They had finally climbed into their seats, only to jump down and run over to Harmony for a hug. Jaina chuckled. "Okay, okay. Table." She picked up Cait and plopped her down on the chair next to Harmony's.

She smiled to Han, finally sitting down. "Thanks." It wasn't the fanciest dinner; Spaghetti and garlic bread. It was a kids favorite, and she thought her Dad would like it well enough. Pizza was one of Jaina's favorite Earth-foods, but it didn't really seem to suit the occasion.

Harmony chuckled when she saw the twins, lifting them up one armed for a hug and giving them sloppy kisses on the cheeks. Since Jaina had Cait, Harmony put Chris down in the chair by Han, smiling at him. She was only a little nervous. Parents tended to not like her much, and she would've bet money that Han had no idea that she wasn't just Jaina's friend.

Han handed Chris a ridiculously huge chunk of garlic bread. If he was honest, he could eat this stuff at literally every single meal.

Doling out a portion of spaghetti to Harmony, Han figured it was probably a time he needed to try some small talk. Not that he expected to be great at it.

"So. Uh, Harmony. How'd you end up on this rock?" He had no idea what her homeworld was. Or anything really. He'd started asking most people for their stories, just to see if it was a planet he had heard of. It really never was.

Chris took the bread eagerly and started chowing down in a mostly non-messy fashion. Cait had used the Force to scoot her chair closer to Harmony so that she was practically in Harmy's lap. "Not your plate," Jaina warned Cait when she reached for Harmony's garlic bread. Apparently the kids didn't realize that supposed to be a nice dinner. Jaina really didn't mind it too much, though. None of them did well in stuffy-settings.

Jaina was fairly sure Han and Harmony would get along. He wasn't a typical parent. They could bond over bikes. She smiled to both of them, feeling hopeful.

Cat sitting so close to her made Harmy pull her into her lap, helping her break the garlic bread in half so they could both share it. "Oh, I was born on this rock." Her first thought to comment - 'by way of my mother's vagina, sir' - hadn't been appropriate. "I was born on the West coast of the States. Someday, that might mean something to you. I tknow you just got here I just got back." She shrugged and helped the little girl twirl spaghetti onto a fork.

It may not have been appropriate, but Han would have laughed his ass off. Mainly at the 'sir' bit.

"I looked at some charts; I've got a general idea," he grinned at Jaina. "Don't want to embarrass Jaina more than I have to, you know? It's bad enough she's probably a better pilot than her old man."

Jaina probably would've flailed if Harmony had said that. "Harmony's from a slightly different Earth," Jaina said, looking to the other woman for confirmation. "She was here for about a year, and then she went back to her Earth for a little while." That sounded better than 'disappeared'.

Jaina laughed. "Dad, please. Nobody's a better pilot than you."

Harmony nodded, lifting a forkful of spaghetti to Cait's mouth. She hoped that Han wouldn't see her many tattoos and comment. "Yeah, I'm a strictly landborn creature, I don't know how you two do it." She grinned at Cait. "Harmy's kind of a scaredy-cat."

Han allowed himself a smirk, but he was proud at how little smugness it held. Really. See, he was behaving himself.

"Aw, it ain't so bad, and let's face it, it's the only way to get from sector to sector. No one likes being tied down in one place too long in our world." Well, no one like him.

He'd already made a first impression that he liked this Harmony. She seemed like a good influence on the kids, since Chris had yet to throw anything down the back of his sister's shirt, and Jaina seemed in a much better mood than normal. All in all, good people.

"There's a surprising variety of places here," Jaina commented. "Deserts as dry as Tatooine and cities as bright as Coruscant." Sure, Jaina missed flying, but she actually didn't feel that stuck. Tied down, yes, but.. in a good way. Having kids did that to a person.

Cait had taken the fork from Harmony and started feeding herself.

"Harmony has a motorcycle, Dad," Jaina told Han, tearing off a piece of her garlic bread. "Kind of like a speeder, only way cooler," she said, grinning over at Harmony.

"Maybe I wouldn't be as scared of heights if we had interspace travel. But we don't, so I just stay on the ground." Harmony smiled at Cait and leaned over to take the little girl's fork, eating some of her own food.

But Jaina made her laugh, and she chuckled to herself. "I love my girl, you know how it is. You fall in love with a machine, and then spend your life taking care of her."

Han had to chuckle himself. "Ain't that the truth. But the Falcon is worth it. Worth every bit." He watched the interplay of the kids with Harmony, and admittedly was impressed. She had to be around quite a bit, since they were so comfortable around her. It made him feel less guilty about the time he hadn't been here for. At least she had friends.

"You'll have to let me see it some time."

"I built one, Dad, if you want to go riding together," Jaina said, looking back over to her father before taking a bite of her food. This was going really well. They seemed to be getting along. They were a lot alike, Jaina thought. Rebellious spirits that were in love with their machines.

"They handle a lot like speeders, you should pick up on it pretty quickly."

"They're a lot more intuitive than the cars that you've probably seen around. It's pretty close to flying on the ground, actually." She smiled and ruffled Cait's hair. "I just slow down a bit when I have the twins with me."

Han had some choice words for those cars. Bulky transports, completely unresponsive. He'd almost crashed the one he'd tried out, and he was sure they didn't have hyperdrive. What a waste.

"Can't wait to try one out." Han grinned his trademark grin, sitting back in his chair, relaxed.
