Who: Jack & Isabela
Where: Her boat
What: A tour of said boat
When: Now-ish
Warnings: Probability: low (surprisingly)

It hadn't taken Jack long to find the ship, and the fact that he'd gone on a short walking tour of the city's dockside market was purely coincidental, he'd done that on purpose, completely. Besides, Isabela knew full well he was a pirate, and therefore never expected to arrive exactly when he'd said he was going to.

And besides that he came bearing gifts, "Knock, knock, Avon calling." He called cheerfully from the dock itself.

She knew the unofficial code; she'd told him ten; it was half past. Isabela had laid in good rum, and poked her head out to peer at the deck when she heard him call. "Hello, darling." Isabela grinned, gesturing for him to hop aboard. "Find me all right?"

He did so, easily as anything, head tilting as he took in the boat. It really wasn't a proper ship, but it would do in a pinch, if they ever decided to go on another quest, she'd definitely be one of the first he asked.

He smiled, "Of course I did, pet. Sense of direction isn't that far gone."

She knew that look. "It's not a ship, it's a boat. But it's a rather roomy boat. A comfortable boat. With rum on board." Isabela winked. "Rather fond of little Gypsy here, but she's not a proper ship." She gestured toward the wheel, inviting him to take a look.

"Well at least you know it." He said, grinning again and handing over the bundle he'd brought, "Thought I ought to bring a present if I'm going visiting." It was a bolt of sturdy, but still brightly-colored linen, "Thought you might have a use for it."

Isabela's eyes lit up; she could tell. "Oooh. It's lovely. I can definitely do something with this." She kissed him on the cheek. "Come in, up into the main cabin. There's rum in here." She winked, heading inside herself and opening the little fridge. "How are things on Tortuga?" She handed him one bottle, popping the other for herself.

"Thankee, luv." He said, accepting the bottle and dropping onto the nearest surface in his usual comfortable sprawl, "Been about the same as always I suppose. Bill's youngest progeny survived another birthday."

A shrug, taking a healthy gulp of the rum, "Either that or he only thinks he has, and has gotten quite good at giving us all updates despite his being a cadaver."

Isabela chuckled, following suit. "In this bloody place, I don't think that would surprise me." She sat opposite Jack on the couch, folding her legs underneath her. "This world does things I don't understand in the slightest. Fairies, immortals who aren't Old Gods." She smiled a little.

"Aye, it's a strange old place." He shrugged, "But it's as good as home now, innit? Been here long enough." And he'd even gone home for a while, between visits, but it didn't seem that he was going to return home again anytime soon.

It was strange to think of this place as home for her. "I suppose," Isabela said a trifle heavily, taking a pull of the rum. She hadn't eaten much, so it didn't take long for her to feel it a little. "And even if not, there's no use in panicking, is there."

"That is a very good point, that is." He replied with a nod, "Though I'm sure it'll come to the panicking soon enough, always does at some point, usually when this place is doing one of its things."

"Things?" Isabela echoed. "Like the week with monsters everywhere? That wasn't so bad. I mean, I had to look out for myself a lot back in Thedas. I'm good with a blade, as you might imagine." She smirked, though she belatedly remembered to tone down her flirting. It was hard; being flirty was second nature at this point.

"Aye, like that. Sometimes it's just zombies, sometimes it's everyone and their mother flip-flopping genders all across the land. And there was the time we were all in space." He shuddered at that, shaking his head and taking another gulp of the rum.

"Flip-flopping genders?" Isabela fairly hooted. "Maker, what a mess! It's happened before?" Whatever would she do with a second rudder? So to speak. "And space? Like ... not on the planet?" She shook her head, still laughing. "Jack, darling, I'm not drunk enough for this."

"Aye, thought I was quite good at bein' a lady, ain't had much reason to try before." Another nod, "And exactly that. If it never happens again it'd be too soon. Need a good solid deck under my feet."

The idea of space was alarming. "There wasn't a deck under your feet?" Isabela shook her head. "Now that's just not playing fair." She took another pull of rum. "You've got me nervous now; I can't imagine what might happen next."

"Well, there was floors but not what you'd call a proper deck, no." He shook his head, "Life don't play fair as it is, this place just likes taking it a step further."

"At least you weren't floating around space without anything?" Isabela shook her head. "I don't expect life to play fair, but this isn't the life I'm used to." She'd been getting there, and still was; this wasn't a horrible place to be. "I'm still not sure what to expect. There's been good and bad."

He actually didn't have an answer to that at first, nodding slowly and replying: "Suppose you're right about that."

A shrug followed, "Just try not to expect anything, something's always going to happen that you'll think you should have known about, or nobody possibly could have known about, and sometimes both at once."

Isabela laughed at that. "A very neat way to put it! Of course I've had some lovely times here, I'm not pining to go back to Thedas yet." But to face the idea that it wasn't even a possibility was just ... strange. "You said you had Bill long before you came here. Right?"

He nodded, "Aye. He hasn't always been my first mate, nor my fledge, was just a cabin boy when first I met him. Obviously things've gone beyond that now."

Isabela smiled. "So it really has been ages. How sweet." She uncrossed her legs, getting a bit more comfortable. "I never got involved with a crew member, but I think it's different for a lass. I've always rather held men at a distance." She chuckled, drinking more, taking a deep breath to try and stop a burp, then laughing harder. "D'you know, I turned down bedding three blokes at once, because it would've felt like cheating?"

He nodded, "Things were like that between Bil and I for a time as well, when it was all still new." He shrugged, "Being immortal kind've puts things in a different light though."

"Daresay." Isabela smiled. "It's just damnable when you've got someone who may actually deserve faithfulness and there is so much pretty in front of you. You're lucky, you know!"

"Why? Because my pretty and my faithful are the same thing?" He shrugged, "I know it." And really, if she said otherwise he'd have to call her a liar.

"Exactly so." Isabela drank more rum. "You're lucky. Like I said. I've got pretty and I'm trying to get the faithful, but I don't know how you do it." She laughed. "Three little kittens, looking for a lady!" She shook her head. "Zev gets to have all the fun."
