Who: Corinth and Zepar
What: Girl-talk?
Where: The coffeeshop where Zepar works
Warnings: Angst~

Corinth had healed up from the Auphe fight, but since seeing Asmodeus and Phoebe talking, he had been driving himself crazy. The evening he'd spent with Cal was the calmest he'd been, but he couldn't just cling to the other man, for several reasons. Leading Asmodeus to Cal was a real fear for Corinth, and to a lesser extent, he didn't want to get on the other man's nerves by spazzing out in his living room all week.

Reluctant to bother his Superior with these matters, Corinth had kept up with his work. When he wasn't working at the hospital, he was ferrying souls for Azrael. When he wasn't doing that, he was worrying all night. Angels didn't need to sleep, but it was nice. Presently, Corinth was working the heroin chic look, a dark hoodie pulled low over his head.

He'd deliberately picked a time Cal didn't work to come to the coffee shop.

Corinth's eyes widened when Zepar mentioned the Grigori. He's been guessing Mercurian. "No shit. I've never met one of you guys. Kinda thought it was just a myth."

He paused a minute before deciding that he could probably trust him. Of course, it didn't hurt to have leverage. "Smoke?" he offered, holding out a pack he carried with them in case he encountered someone with the need for it.

"I'm a Bright Lilim. Redeemed demon." He shrugged. Not a glamorous life, but he was making it work. He waited for Zepar to take the cigarette before adding "Don't tell anyone, huh?" There was a small geas behind his request

"We might be, in some places." He said with a shrug, "I know we're pretty well spread out where I'm from, keep to ourselves."

He arched a brow at the offered cigarette, but he accepted, fishing a box of matches out from beside the register, "Thanks." One eye closed, regarding Corinth for a moment, "You know things." A shrug, "Or you pick up on them damn fast." He said, using the cigarette to indicate what he meant, "And I don't make a habit of telling things that aren't my business."

"It's kind of my thing," he said with a grin. It was strange for angels not to know about the Lilim, or their particular resonance, but he was starting to get used to it. He might've been more surprised to meet someone who actually did know. "Seeing people's needs. Comes in handy."

He put the pack away and returned to his coffee. "So Cal. Is he more into girls, usually?" Oh, he'd just come for the caffeine charge, really. Totally wasn't here to get the dirt on Cal.

"You know, I'm not really sure." He said, scratching his nose for a moment, "Usually I can tell that kind of thing, just what I do, but he's kind of ... an equal opportunity ignorer."

He shrugged, "I mean, he looks, but that's all, never really seems interested in anybody."

Corinth raised a brow. It was very difficult for him to wrap his head around the concept of celibacy. Sure, there were priests and little old cat ladies, but Cal. He knew Cal had needed it, and he knew nothing was broken. So what the fuck?

"Huh." Cal being straight would've made sense. And, if Corinth played his cards right, it would just be a matter of time before he could get back into a body Cal might've preferred. But Cal being.. What? Celibate? Asexual? Into bestiality? Corinth didn't even know how to approach that. He was definitely in new territory. "Well, I guess 'chummy' works, then."

"Thought it might." He said, smiling crookedly, "And I don't get it either." He said, shrugging, "My guess is something happened to him, sometime, I've never seen anybody that's actually satisfied with look but don't touch."

He took another drag of his cigarette, eying Corinth critically, "He's chased you down before, hasn't he?" Zepar didn't know this for sure, it was just an educated guess and a strong suspicion, "And feel free to tell me if it's none of my business, I'm used to that."

"Hm. Me neither." He wondered why he hadn't picked up on that. Detecting past trauma wasn't part of his gift, but he would've hoped he'd have gotten there with common sense. Cal had mentioned his run-in with Alastor, but Corinth had trouble connecting the dots there. Unless Alastor had killed someone important to Cal, or had Cal do it. Corinth shook his head. Too many guesses.

He nodded to Zepar's question. "Once. That wasn't his handiwork you saw the other day, though. Our run ended rather more...amicably." He couldn't help but smirk.

"Didn't figure it was." He said, "He doesn't usually go right for the throat like that." His expression was amused, and rightly so, really, "He gets there eventually, but it's not the first shot."

He shrugged then, talking around a mouthful of smoke, "At first I thought maybe it was his brother, I mean, hero worship like that does weird things to people, but I really don't get that vibe."

"You too, huh? He mentioned something along those lines." He was glad Cal had more than just him. He might've been jealous if Zepar hadn't just told him how rare it was Cal had sex with anyone. Confusion was more the soup du jour.

"Hmm." Cal hadn't shared much of his past with Corinth. He shook his head. "All the lovers I've had," the brief pause conveyed the silent message that there had been a lot, "they've all been more into me than I've been into them." That sounded cold, but he had been a demon, after all. "I'm not used to... whatever this is."

"Couple times." He nodded, "Figured better me than some wildlife, or worse, some random passerby."

He finished off his cigarette, scratching the back of his neck once he'd stubbed it out, "Normally I'd suggest talking to him, but you probably know as well as I do that Cal's not much of a talker."

"How often?" Corinth was curious. He knew about werewolves and the 'once-a-month' thing, but didn't know what Cal's schedule was like.

Corinth chuckled a little. "That's sort of why I came to you. Figured trying to get him to talk would be like pulling teeth. Only more painful." Nngh. He should really just move on. He knew better. But there was something that drew him to Cal.

"Three or four times, maybe five." He shrugged, "Only when it gets really bad and neither of us is working."

A small flicker of a smile, "And yeah, that's about right." Another one-shouldered shrug, "I mean, sure, he talks, but never about anything that could be used against him later."

Corinth nodded. That was less frequent than he thought. He wouldn't mind doing it again, but he was glad it wouldn't be a weekly occurrence, or anything. He was especially reluctant after being attacked by a pack of Auphe. Even Cal's biting him during sex had been enough to make him tense up. He'd get over it, he knew, but he was glad for the downtime.

"Trust issues? Here I thought it was because we'd just met." Corinth probably trusted people too easily. He'd told Zepar and Cal more than it was probably safe to tell.

"Something like that, yeah. I think most of it comes from being perpetually out of his own dimension." His brow furrowed, "He told you about that, right? That he's been living Quantum Leap for the past few years?"

He shrugged, "But the other part of it comes from heritage."

Corinth frowned a bit, shaking his head. "No. Not more than the rest of us, I mean." He pursed his lips, thinking. "I saw him go... somewhere else. Not sure. I was distracted by the broken bones and the internal bleeding."

Zepar shook his head then, "I'll leave him to tell you about it then. Apparently he's been doing this bouncing to other dimensions thing for a few years now." Which wasn't really the same as leaving Cal to tell it, he knew, "But he can't do it now that he's here, always ends up back here."

He shook his head, scratching at his temple for a moment, "I don't really understand how it works, to be honest, haven't asked."

Corinth nodded a bit, brows furrowed. "I can sympathize. Sort of stuck myself." He didn't know much about the Grigori, but he knew they were outcast, and he knew better than to complain to an outcast about not being able to get into Heaven. Corinth's hope was that he would only be stuck in this body a while longer. Zepar's banishment was permanent.

Corinth finished his coffee. and sighed. Why did he care so much about Cal?

Personally Zepar had come to grips with his exile a long, long time since, right about the time he'd been freed to roam the world again.

There was a small smile at the sigh, shaking his head, leaning comfortably against the counter again, "You've got it bad." A slight shrug, "I can tell, I'm the one who presides over women falling in love with men. But I can usually tell the other way too, even if it's not strictly my domain."

Corinth ran a hand through his hair, a sheepish grin on his face. "Yeah, you're not wrong. You'd think I'd know better by now."

"And you're not as far out of your domain as you think," he said with a dry laugh.

He snorted at the first, shaking his head, "Time doesn't make that kind of thing any clearer, believe me."

The second statement got an arched brow, "Oh really? Spill."

Corinth chuckled, shaking his head. He didn't want to go into the details of just how badly things had gone the last time. Kind of a downer, that.

He smirked. That was probably something he should share with Cal first. Of course, that would require actually talking. "Lilim. Daughters of Lilith." He shrugged, gesturing at himself. "This old thing? Not my favorite vessel."

"Ah-ha. That explains a few things." He shrugged then, explaining before he could be asked: "The whole making-women-fall-in-love-with-men thing is sort of an extra sense, gender isn't important, mentality is. Drag queens and transvestites are some of my favorite people for just that reason."

"Patience is a virtue, virtue is a grace, Grace is a little girl who doesn't wash her face." He sing-songed, laughing softly and giving a shrug, "But it's worth sticking with, sometimes. I wouldn't know, because I'm pretty impatient myself, big fan of instant gratification."

"Grace is a little girl who doesn't wash her face," Corinth joined in with the last line, laughing. "Never thought I'd be on the receiving end of that one." He nodded. "Patience isn't something I'm great at. Not sure this can be forced, though." He shrugged.

He laughed, "Well that's something you have in common. Good place to start, don't you think?" A shrug, "Isn't that what relationships are supposed to be based on? What you can argue about and what you won't argue about?"

"Mm. Thanks. I'll keep that in mind." He wasn't really bothered so much by labels or the lack thereof. Sure, it would be nice just to know he wasn't imagining things, but he could do without. "You have someone waiting for you at home, Zep?"

"Nah." He said, giving another shrug, "Haven't for a while. I'm pretty good at making my own fun, or finding it, as the case may be."

It was mostly true, he only rarely went lonely if he didn't want to.

Corinth shrugged. "Fair enough. Being a free agent has its perks." Corinth wouldn't describe himself as lonely, really. More obsessed.

"I should probably get going." He didn't want to stay in one place for too long. Over the course of their conversation, he'd warmed up and become more animated. He didn't look pale and sickly anymore. He smiled. "Tell Cal I stopped by? Probably won't be around for a while." He laid a couple bills on the counter, enough to cover the drink and tip. "Good talking to you."

He nodded, ringing up the drink and dropping the change into the tip jar on the counter, "I'll let him know." His brow arched then, just a little, "Don't stay gone too long, he'll go looking." He shrugged then, adding, "Just a hunch."

"Thanks," he said, heading for the door.
