"Oh yeah." Jamie thought for a minute. Mia seemed trustworthy enough. "A mutant. Like me. People who are born different and can do things." That wasn't very descriptive. "Like this." Jamie stood up and stomped his foot. A dupe popped up beside him. The dupe was exactly like Jamie, even personality wise.
Before he could talk, Jamie reabsorbed him. He hoped Mia wasn't going to think he was a freak. But then, his parents had never really treated him like a freak. Maybe she'd be like them.
"The dog's with us," he said, as though he hadn't just done something out of the ordinary.
