Relief washed over her and she broke into a big grin. She didn't realize until he said it that she'd been holding her breath. She giggled, lifting her hands to touch his face. "I love ye," she said again, laughing. She leaned in, kissing him.
There had been so much worry and stress and too much talk of death. Funerals and dead boyfriends. It was just nice to have something life-affirming and real. She shifted closer, one of her legs draping over his lap.
