"Thank you," she said, smiling at the compliment. "It's rare I have occasion to dress up." She shrugged when she commented on what Jareth should or shouldn't say. "The king talks in riddles, it's hard to get a straight word out of him. But I've gotten the impression he's pleased."
She glanced over her shoulder at their dates, so different in their demeanor. "Now, don't let King Jareth hear you talk that way. He enjoys danger too much, I think. He may try to steal you away, and I doubt your lord of midnight would take that easily."
