When: Earlier today

11-12 had gone to get his coat and shoes almost immediately upon signing off, as well as his wallet, since he knew he was going to need that as well. It was right about then that he didn't know where the nearest grocery store even was so he'd fired the computer right back up to check, keeping an eye on the walkway outside for whenever Soren showed up.

	Soren bounced up the stairs to 11-12's flat, knocking on the door and bouncing a little on his heels. He really did like making new friends, and the poor thing had only been around a few days. (Reply to this)

	He smiled as he opened the door, "Hullo, I'd realized that I haven't even got any idea where the nearest market is." He said, shrugging, "Things are a bit different back home, there's just the one." Another smile, waving Soren inside, "I think I've found one though, it's only a couple blocks away." (Reply to this)

	"Oh, there tend to be a lot around here. New York has a lot of little corner markets, so if you just wander around long enough, you'll find one." He grinned and moved inside, though not far. He didn't want to impose. (Reply to this)

	"oh, really?" he brightened considerably at that, "That's good to know, I'll certainly have to keep it in mind." He snagged his scarf from the coatrack, slinging it into place before shrugging into his coat, patting down his pockets for keys, which were something else he was just getting used to, "Right, shall we?" 	"Yes, we shall!" He smiled and held the door open for his new friend. "If you don't know how to cook, the microwave stuff will be best, the stuff that's easy to mix and has instructions on it. It's about all I can make. I can't cook." (Reply to this)

	He beamed at that, making sure the door was locked behind them before pocketing his keys once more, "That's probably a good plan, since I don't rightly know how to cook either, and like I said, everything at home was a wrap, so anything outside of that is beyond me." (Reply to this)

	"There's a lot of stuff that's super easy to make. I'll show you how to use the microwave. You just sort of stick stuff in there and press buttons and it gets warm. Easy peasy. Oh, and fruit!" Soren made a happy noise. (Reply to this)

	He nodded, "We have microwaves in the Village, so it's not a completely foreign concept." He was smiling, just a little, mostly trying not to grin outright, "And we have fruit there too." (Reply to this)

	He laughed, shaking his head, "Not homesick in the least, not even a little." He shrugged, hands in his pockets as he made his way up the street to the store, "Anyone trying to take me back is going to have their hands full, I'll tell you that." (Reply to this)

	"Oh, so this is sort of liberating for you? I've seen a lot of people come in here, and a lot of them sort of either love it or hate it, it's either fantastic for them or they want to go home and that's it." He smiled at a kid on the street, making a silly face and causing her to grin up at him. (Reply to this)

	"Oh extremely." He replied, smiling, he shrugged, "Especially when you consider that I was on my way to kill myself when I wound up here instead, I got out in a much more ... hm. 	Soren was glad his hands were in his pockets; it hid the large, ugly scars on his wrists. "Yeah, better not do that. It's not as good an idea as you'd think." He chuckled and shook his head, wandering inside the store. (Reply to this)

	He shook his head, "I didn't exist anywhere outside the Village, it was a trap, I'd have rather not existed than know that." Another head shake, it was something he was still coming to terms with, one of the few things. "But, it doesn't really matter now, since here I am." Another smile, if a little thinner than before, "So, cereal I know I need, what else do you suggest?" (Reply to this)

	"Exactly, so you shouldn't do that again while you're here." Soren's voice sounded quiet, a bit sad, but he shook it off quickly. "Well, I figure it's easiest to go by meal. Sort of how the store's set up, anyway." (Reply to this)

	"Well, we'll just wander around and get a bunch of things and try it all out, I suppose. It's not the most economical of techniques, but it'll be the best way." He smiled and grabbed a cart. (Reply to this)

	There was another laugh at that, "I actually rather like that idea, sounds like it's more likely to come across something I like rather than something I'm going to hate and never eat again." He shrugged, "Though it really could be both." (Reply to this)

	"I hope it's both!" He hummed a little as he wheeled the cart toward the produce section, hoping that the fruits would be similar. Since it was a New York grocery, the selection wasn't as big as he'd seen in other places, but it was cozy and he was happy to be hanging out with someone new and helping them out. (Reply to this)

There were a few things he didn't recognize outside of a can, tangerines, for instance, but he bagged a few anyway. Apples he knew he liked, though he hadn't seen so many varieties before, and picked a couple that he knew and a couple that he didn't. He also picked a persimmon, just because he liked the look of it, and an avocado, which he recognized, and pears, which he didn't, "Right, that's more than enough of that, what else is there?."

	There was that laugh again, bright and clear and far too infrequently used, "Well it's nice to know that I've got something right about this, at least." He shook his head, "There's only the one market back home, and I've only been there myself once, we had, um, chefs and things. Butler." (Reply to this)

	"Butter's still here! And it's awesome. But you've got a lot of options there too." He shrugged and smiled. "I know a chef, if you want to go to his restaurant at some point, that's a good way to get an idea about flavors you like." He bounced over to the gummy snacks, picking out the My Little Pony ones.
