Sophie had been in her bed for most of the past.. she'd lost count. She was curled up under the blankets, her head shoved under the pillow. She didn't think she'd ever cried this hard. Not with Quentin, not with Darius, not with the Cuckoos. She'd moderated her use of her diamond form back then, using it when she went to school. Now it was all or nothing. Moderation seemed wrong, somehow. Like it would dishonor their memory, or something. Gar's anger hadn't been misplaced; she was supposed to feel this.
The room was a little chilly. Earlier in the week, she opened the window to leave an entrance for whenever Jon came back. By now she'd forgotten about it, and just hadn't bothered leaving the covers.
Rose. Mom. Esme. Logan. Darius. Celeste, Phoebe, Mindee, Esme. Quentin. She screamed into her pillow, breaking into staccato sobs.
