He smiled at her when she glanced up. "I'll be back in a tick, yeah? Might even bring you back a surprise." Fatherhood, or unclehood, sat well on James.

With a little wave, he went to the door and started when he heard the knock. He frowned a little, because he hadn't been expecting anyone and figured that his mates would just show up inside the flat. Maybe Lily was expecting post. James opened the door and looked a little surprised to find Sirius standing there, looking older. "Padfoot," he said. "Hi."
