Who: y!Sirius and y!Remus
What: Re-explaining things
Warnings: Probably not...?

Sirius had had better days. Lily had healed up his scratches and bruises, but his head still ached. That might have been a side effect of all of the things she'd told him, though. Apparently they were in another dimension. There weren't any Death Eaters around, and she and James hadn't had Harry yet, but occasionally a teenaged Harry had shown up and there was an older version of Sirius himself around somewhere. He rubbed his head.

Knowing that Moony wanted to talk to Sirius alone, Lily had pointed him toward the door with orders to 'Go.' He knocked on the door once and heard an exasperated 'Go on!' from Lily. Shrugging, he opened the door to the apartment and stepped in.

Moony just stared at him for a moment and opened his mouth a few times before pointing to the one room in the flat. Well that was it. Not much more avoiding.

Padfoot took a moment to internally debate whether or not the laziness of staying on the couch outweighed the laziness of going to bed. He got up and walked into the room. "This is your room," he said, sounding a little confused. His room would not have all of Moony's books and records. Then again, Moony's floor would not be covered with Padfooty clothes. He leaned out of the room, looking back at Moony with a question on his face.

"Ah. Yes, it is. You can take the bed, I'll just sleep on the couch." He didn't look up.

Padfoot played dumb sometimes, but a few thoughts got in every now and then. "This is what was going to make my head explode, huh?" He wouldn't make Moony talk about it tonight if he didn't want to. He needed some time for that to sink in.

He stood in the doorway for a moment, waiting to see if Moony was going to say anything else.

"Yeah." He looked up to see Padfoot's reaction. It didn't look like his brain was exploding. "I. I don't expect anything."

"You don't?" Padfoot frowned a bit, still thinking all of these things out. "I would. If it was serious, I mean." If Padfoot had a serious girlfriend and she disappeared or something, he would be pretty upset. He shrugged and turned back to the bedroom. This was.. Strange.

"You're not him. I mean, you are, but you're not and I can't expect you to feel the same, especially since I don't really see why he felt that way about me in the first place, not like it makes any sence." He was babbling now and he knew he was. "It's not like I don't want it. I'm just trying to be realistic. Trying to not get my hopes up."

Padfoot didn't want to lead Moony on--not when he could barely process everything he'd been told tonight. But after all they'd been through, after what they'd seen in the war--the idea of not having hope was an awful one. Even if Padfoot lost everything, he thought, he would still have hope.

For once, Padfoot was quiet, trying to sort all of the thoughts in his head.

"I'll see you in the morning," he said. He could be sure of that, at least.

Remus smiled and nodded. As long as he was here it would be okay. "Goodnight."

Padfoot went into the room and killed the lights before crawling into bed.

He laid in the dark, looking up at the ceiling and thinking. The lights in the living room went out, but Sirius was still awake. After about twenty minutes, he spoke aloud. "Moony? You asleep?"

Moony had basically been tossing and turning on the couch, that really wasn't as comfortable as he remembered it being. "No."

"Remember that time we spelled McGonagall's chalkboard so it would repeat the things she said in that high pitched voice?" He sat up in bed a bit. "Or when we transfigged Prongs' bed into teacups wrapped in a jumper and he kicked me out of my bed and took it over?" To be fair, Sirius had definitely deserved that.

Remus laughed, "I'll take credit for my part in tea cupping of the bed, the chalkboard was you and Prongs."

Sirius chuckled. "Do you remember when we turned Dumbledore's socks pink? And that time we changed McGoogle's crossword puzzle all around?" Sirius grinned in the dark, remembering.

"Oh, I believe those became Dumbledore's favorite socks. He did show everyone his new socks." He was smiling, trying to see Sirius in the dark. It was his Padfoot, and would always be his friend, but the more he was reminding this was his Padfoot the less he was okay with it staying with just friendship. It was his Padfoot, just further down the road, and still not with his Moony. Which really made him wonder what had triggered the 'other' Padfoot to realize he was in love with the 'other' Moony. He'd never asked.

"Good times, eh?" As much as Padfoot liked to complain about the actual 'school' part of Hogwarts, he'd very much enjoyed his time there, and a large part of that was because of the Marauders. And they were all here, so whatever happened.. Well, it would be all right, because they had eachother.

Moony was silent for a while, still lost in his own thought, before replying with an almost too late, "Yeah, great times."

Moony's comment was answered only by soft snoring in the other room.

Some time in the middle of the night, Padfoot would wake up and quietly transfigure all of Moony's underwear into frilly little lace things, and sneak into the kitchen and change all of the milk and juice in the fridge to butterbeer before falling back to sleep.
