He'd been rushing around all day, making sure everything was in order and ready to go. The doors would open at 4pm, for the grand opening. He wanted everything to be perfect. it wasn't just about dancing, but community and all that went along with it.

He had games for the kids, face painting, a moon walk out front, a hot dog vendor, and a raffle for a new car to entice the adults. Inside, he offered more refreshments and several opportunities to sign up for dance lessons, and the chance to win free lessons.

With balloons dangling from the ceiling, and staff in place, he decided everything was a go, and the doors were ready to open...

Ray wanted to work the door for a bit, greet people as they came in.

The throng of latin dance music filled the air, fed from the elaborate stero system Ray had set up, with speakers in every corner of the main floor.

Dancing was one ofthe few things that, for Mel, had not really changed over the years. Sure ,the steps changed, and the beats changed, but underneath it all was always the rhythm... heart beat matching musical beat urging the feet to move, however one chose to do it. She'd been dancing as long as she could remember. Dancing also allowed one to not think about other things, and she was all about things that let her forget her other worries... so an open invitation to a dance studio was right up her alley.

It was with only a mildly restrained glee that she made her way up the stairs to the studio, the music already energizing her.

ray met her at the door, and greeted her with a smile. "Welcome, welcome." There were a few people milling around outside, a few inside. "We're quite glad you could come out and see us, today."

Mel beamed, holding out her hand. "Hello, hello! I'm Melpomene. It's a pleasure. I'm very glad you were inviting people! I love dancing."

"Definitely better than I anticipated."Ray smiled. "Go mingle, show 'em what you've got." He patted Romeo on the shoulder. "And thanks, for everything."

Remy strolled in from the outside like he was meant to be there, which was possible. Dressed in a loosely buttoned warm red silk shirt and poured on black leather pants, he was comfortable enough and looked plausible for any flavor of dance, salsa to tango.

He grinned his easy-charm grin and wove amongst the minglers. He would enjoy cutting loose with some music with a fun partner, male or female.

He sipped a passable mojito and looked about, broadcasting cheerful easy-going fun.

"I see you're enjoying yourself," Ray commented, pleased to see someone so relaxed and seemingly at home. "Ray Wood, at your service," he bowed slightly. He wanted to present himself as a warm and welcoming host.

"Of course, monsieur!" Remy gave more of a bow and grinned. "Dancin's a dyin' art in our world. Couldn't pass this up for anyt'ing!"

He offered his hand warmly. "Remy LeBeau, Monsieur Wood, was it? Many thanks for settin' up a place like this."

"Please, call me Ray," Ray insisted, flapping a hand at the formal title Remy offered. "I have always wanted to open my own studio, but it never worked out back home. This location was just too good, to pass up, for the price." He smiled a little smile. "I'm glad you like it."

Melpomene did as suggested, and grabbed a partner in the former of an older gent, wh seemed to be moving awkwardly to his own rhythm. He hesitated, but eventually gave into her wiles, letting her try to lead him in a samba. To say it didn't work? Understatement.

Rather than give up, Mel showed the man a basic foxtrot box step, the foxtrot in her mind being something anyone could do, to any music. He caught on, and after about 10 minutes led her around the floor, dancing like a man inspired.

Marsden took note of Mel, the moment she walked in, all the while she was talking to Ray. He had no idea who she was, just that she had a commanding presence and he was captivated. He watched her break away from Ray, and engage the older gentleman in a dance. It was interesting to watch, he thought he might even learn something from her.

Laughing lightly at her partner as he got the hang of it, she encouraged him to go find another partner and share the joy. The foxtrot was all well and good, but the music called for something with a bit more flair. Deciding she'd wait a bit to see what fun others were having,he made her way towards a refreshment station, snagging herself a cup of water.

Finding himself at a point he could slip away, Marsden made his way over to her. He smiled, a shy teenaged boy kind of smile. "I couldn't help noticing, you're very good."

"Ah, a familiar face." Romeo approached the woman as soon as she'd parted from her last partner. "We conversed when I arrived," he reminded her. "Romeo Tchaikovskiy."

Mackenzie was doing her best to mingle, far more outgoing than her twin. She wandered around the room (gracefully, despite the light brace on her one ankle), smiling and chatting with the various visitors, dancing when asked. She knew enough of the basics of ballroom to at least keep up with the average person, so that was no worry.

After a particularly vigorous salsa, she made her way over to one of the drink tables, helping herself to a glass of water.

Things were lining up nicely for Romeo. He'd found a nice apartment not too far from the studio that had let him sign the lease on the promise of his first paycheck, which now that the studio was open, would be coming soon. First, of course, he had to get himself a few students.

Romeo prowled the crowd, flashing his most charming smile and asking every female he found for a dance at least once, deferring just enough to their husbands or dates or what have you to keep from offending. The whole time, he kept scanning the room for new faces and potential students.

Safiyah decided to check out the dance studio. She remember Romeo telling her about it a little bit. She figured she could show up and see what it was all about, perhaps have the chance to dance a little herself.

Instead of wearing her normal garb when performing, she dressed more simply in a pair of melodia pants and her halter coin bra. She decided against the hair falls and forehead bindis since it wasn't a performance she was attending.

She glanced around once she got there realizing that beyond her brief contact with Romeo on the boards, she knew absolutely no one in attendance. She sighed a bit but moved forward into the room. She could only hope that no water was nearby that would start dancing as she did.

It wasn't hard for Romeo to spot her, so as soon as he'd thanked his last partner for the Waltz, he made his way across the floor.

"Safiyah, am I remembering right? Romeo Tchaikovskiy. Good to finally meet you."

She saw him approaching, was hard not to. Safiyah always admired the movement of all dancers, particularly male, as they always had a natural grace that others just sometimes did not possess. Romeo certainly didn't disappoint.

"Yes, Safiyah Duende," she said. "It's good to finally meet you too." She glanced around the studio before leveling her eyes on him.

"Quite the place."

Romeo extended a hand.

"Wish I could take credit, but it's all Ray's work, the gentleman who owns the place." He pointed out his new boss across the dance floor. "So how have you been? Gotten any dancing in since you arrived?"
