Entry tags:cable, domino

Who: Cable and Domino
What: relaxing, taking care of the babies, goblin attack!
Where: The Summers Complex, underground
When: early in the afternoon
Warnings: violence, cursing, adult themes

Domino hummed as she fed the babies, having found that they tended to behave better when she did so. Philip was finally up to a good weight for his age, and Moira was almost the size of a six month old. It made holding them an interesting affair, but Nate was making breakfast, and there was no way she was going to interupt that.

She adjusted Moira a little, to keep a good grip on her. "You know, nobody's going to have any question who Mo's daddy is. You two already look exactly alike, except for the skin thing."

Domino stroked Moira's back, not terribly bothered if her shirt got messed up.

"I did notice we weren't running out of stuff as fast as we ought to. I just want to get out of the house for a bit, really."

"Go, have fun. Pick up some truffles and donuts... we need more incentives for exercise. Mmmmmm."

He bounced, watching her, loving her gentleness. The kitchen was cold, and yet he felt warm, when around her.

"Today is a good day."

"I will. Later."

She stroked Moira, checking to see if she needed a new diaper. Nope, still clean. "It is. Mo sounds like she's heading for sleep again. Phil's probably going to stay up, though. Too bad, I was hoping to have you to myself for a bit before you took off on me."

Now that she was moving again, her body was beginning to find its center again. Which meant that she had all kind of energy to expend.

He grinned.

"Alex is ready to watch them as soon as they are done being fed, and I don;t have to go yet..."

His grin widened as he watched her, his own appetites growing lately.

She smirked. "Then tell him to get his butt in here."

This was why Nate was a good lover. He thought of, and had a solution for, everything.

Cable smiled, and called Alex, who showed up a few moments later, yawning and grinning. With murmurs and gentle arms, he managed to gather both kids into the stroller, and winked as he waved a hand jauntily. he was taking them for a walk around the inside of the compound, and having fun.

Domino kissed Mo one more time before lounging against the counter. She fixed herself a cup of coffee, smirking at Nate over it. "So, what do you want to do, lover?"

He grinned and led her toward the bedroom. It was time to have a little fun.

"You and I? Are having lots of sex."

He winked at her and then turned, dropping his clothing as he went.

Domino followed after, slipping her clothing off as well. She had been looking forward to this for months.

Hours later Alex was putting the babies down for a nap, as both were already asleep, and smiling.

They were fun to play with, and precoscious. He wandered off, two doors down, to wake Lorna.

Just as he got in the room, there was a heaving rolling thunder, and then the door of Alex and Lorna's room seemed to fold and twist even as a hole opened int he middle of the nursery, and little green creatures poured out, grabbed the kids, and ran down the hole.

In the doorway, where they had witnessed this, Cable and Domino stood, shellshocked, and then exploded into action. Cable fell t the floor of the hole and his mind launched a probe downward even as he sent Domino to the armory. Anger and fear roared in him as he stared downward, unable to feel the children.

Just then, Alex blasted a hole in the doorspace and charged out, to gape.

"What the fuck?

Domino cursed vehemently, and ran for the weapons, grabbing the emergency baby supplies they'd stashed in the nearby gun safe. After a quick DNA test the door opened, giving Domino access to guns that would have been illegal, had they been invented yet.

She loaded up, pulling on a bulletproof vest and grabbing the rest of their underarmor. They'd pull it on as they went. She managed to be back at Cable's side within two minutes, but that was at least a minute and a half longer than they had to spare. The whole time she spat obscenities.

Lorna hovered behind Alex, gaping as well. "Oh God, no." She put her hands over her mouth, eyes wide and unbelieving.

Cable spent that time sounding the hole with his powers, and then turned to Alex and Lorna as he suited up with Domino's help.

"You two, get out of here, get all of your things and get to a hotel. This is not safe any more. tell Naamah to institute level Alpha protocol."

He turned to Domino and kissed her.

We'll get them back. I have a direction, and we will find them. He radiated confidence.

Alex sputtered.

"But, the kids, and you... and what?"

"Alex... you aren't trained enough for this and you have your own life. Check in on Naamah every now and then, let everyone know what happened, and go live your life. This is for me and Domino."

He sent love and warmth to them both, then held out his hand to Domino.

"Let's go."

Damn right we are. I've been waiting for this ever since I got pregnant. She handed him the biggest gun and a couple bands of grenades.

"Be good, kids. Next time you can tag along."

Domino took Cable's hand and looked down the hole. "Man, this sucks."

He racked the gun, waved, and leaped, taking her with him, his powers enfolding them as they went downward.

They floated downward, fast. He flocked a switch and handed her a set of goggles as he slid his on.

Somewhere down here is a turnoff, and they went that way. We just have to find it.

Awesome. She slid the goggles on, her jaw set. No other job had ever hit her this close to home. She was suddenly reminded why she hadn't even wanted to get involved with Cable in the first place.

But even now, especially now, really, she wouldn't want anyone else to be with her. Any idea what we're up against?

Something small and slimy, and clawed.

He shook his head.

But they had a plan, or someone was controlling them. That Earthquake was too localized, too controlled, and this ran too smoothly. Something or someone was behind this. The annoying thing is, I have no idea who.

So much for being a smarty pants telepath. When the chips are down, you gotta go with your gut.

She sighed, shaking her head. You know, we suck as civilians.

He laughed quietly and sighed. This was a damnably deep cavehole.

Yes we do, and we always have... we do try, though. Maybe this will be a diversion and remind us how much we like quiet?

Her thoughts were thick with sarcasm. Sure, Nate. At least we know Wade isn't behind this. Let's go through our list of enemies. Any sign of Stryfe? This is too sneaky for Apocalypse, adn too dumb even for Sinister.

Time to focus. On something other than how good it would feel to empty a few clips into the bastards that had dared to take her children.

Alex sighed, and nodded.

"I am afraid it did."

A moment later, Naamah arrived, a hand canon in one hand, a radio in the other.

"What the hell--?"

She sighed.

"What happened?"

She glanced at them.

Alex filled her in, and told her what Cable had told him, and she slowly stood straighter, doubt flickering to resolve.

"So be it. Are you going to leave or stay? I mean... it would probably be safer for you to go. I can watch over this place, until they come back."

She looked at them, worried they might get hurt here.

Lorna bit her lip. "I don't want to leave you alone. This is not an awesome time to be by yourself in a house that eats people."

She moved closer to the hole. "Anyone got any pocket change? I wonder how deep it is?"

Naamah smiled softly.

"I was trained by Cable to be a first line. You two have lives you are building but I am here and I can watch this place. "

Alex shook his head.

"Are you sure?"

Naamah nodded.

"I will be ready for anything that comes. You two... you need a better life, and deserve one."

She smiled lopsidedly.

"Now pack up, you two, there is a hotel down the street that Cable owns, and you can stay there as long as you need it."

"How many fucking hotels can one man own?"

Oh, wait. "It's not the Companion House, is it?"

That would make a vague bit of sense.

She held Alex's hand, worried for their friends and the babies especially. "Man, Darius is going to freak out."

Naamah shook her head.

"No, actually... it called the Summers' Day."

A smirk twisted her lips.

Then she sighed.

"Yeah... he will. Can you break it to him from the hotel?"

Alex nodded and hugged Lorna.

"We will."

He stroked Lorna's back.

"I guess we should pack."
