She felt dizzy up until the point where Dick was speaking. Then things seemed to grow very quiet and calm and still. It took some self control to not throw herself into his arms right then. Or to start crying. Her eyes shone a little bright, but there weren't any tears.
When it was her turn, Carrie was surprised with herself. Not once did she stumble or stutter. When she neared the end of her speech she had to pause and suck in a deep breath. "Until death do us part," she said, exhaling quietly.
There were formal words and the few people who'd followed them in, including Barry and Iris, were watching with wide smiles. Once the preacher got to "You may now kiss-" Carrie broke the distance between the two of them and kissed her once boyfriend, now husband. They were married.
