Carrie boggled a little. The only people she knew that had stayed married for over a decade were her folks. And they hardly counted for anything. "I didn't really think that was possible. That's... amazing." She smiled at the couple, a soft kind of smile that let the world know that maybe she didn't detest the institution of marriage quite as much as she claimed.
She didn't want to sound rude, so she thought for a moment. "How do you do it?" Maybe there was some sage advice this couple had to give.
"It's hard work," the old man said. Maybe not.
"But it's worth it," Iris chimed in. They really loved each other. It was easy to see. Not just in the way they talked or interacted.
