Skwisgaar had dreaded reading Toki's letter when he found it waiting for him. He dreaded seeing a ghost of his past leave, because that meant that his past might dwindle away and only leave bittersweet memories of his younger days, far away from this world. He didn't want to read it, but at Lulu's careful insistence, he found himself reading it nearly a month after the younger Himself left with the young Toki and Stephanie.
Needless to say, the letter made him go "get totally high" in his studio for a while. But when he returned, he spoke to Lulu about the importance of it, the significance of what Toki meant in the letter. Skwisgaar chuckled, almost despite the grave, sullen tone in his voice. Toki was a lot smarter than he let on.
So it was a week later. Skwisgaar had gone on with a lot of deep thinking on the subject, oftentimes simply tinkering with the idea while his fingers felt the familiar strings and frets of his guitar and produced bittersweet, thoughtful music for hours at a time. He ate, he slept, and he thought. He spent a lot of time near Lulu, too. Just at this particular moment, he was sprawled over the couch in the large living room of the cabin, looking at Lulu through the shroud of long blond hair that was tipped black, and smiled quietly to himself. "Lulu," spoke the tall, old star, the first thing he'd said for nearly two days. "Woulds you be upset if we dids it, and I did not spend nears as much time with you?"
