It hadn't been as hard as he'd expected. In fact, magic seemed almost to work better here. Maybe it was the rift, or maybe it was the strange combination of men and women, gods and devils, and everything between, overwhelming the very fabric of reality and bending it to each's will. Severus couldn't complain.
Did he have a good reason to be tracking her? Not really. It'd just been nice, he supposed, having company and he couldn't very well bother Evans all of the time. She had a child, she had a husband. He and Alecto had nothing, so it worked out fairly well.
Spotting her by her long dark hair on a bench some ways up, Severus doubled his efforts to make it to the crest of that hill, breathing heavily once he'd made it and dropping onto the seat beside her. It was nice, there in the shade, able to watch the passers by.
"I could teach you to mask your presence, so fools like myself can't stalk you," he told her, hooking his fingers along the shell of his ear to tuck his hair back, away from his face.
