WHO: Sam & Anne
WHAT: Reconnecting
WHERE: The Palace at Troy
WARNINGS: ... don't know

Troy was everything that could be imagined: tall marble columns, guards at doorways, servants and handmaidens and, in Antigone's suite alone, a large bed, marble vanity with attached mirror and a balcony overlooking the most beautiful beach in the world. Deep blue water, white sand and the occasional tree, but mostly, the entire place - from chaise lounges to marble tub, announced elegance to whomever entered.

Anne found it a haven. She'd spent so much time there in the beginning years of her life that she felt more at home in her three simple rooms than anywhere else on Earth. The attached nursery had been held over from Erastos and Aidan had fit right in. The handmaidens had cooed over him incessantly and Selena, especially, had spent more time doting on him than his mother. Anne didn't mind, either. She enjoyed seeing other people worship him the way she wanted them to.

And? She missed Sam.

Long walks on the beach, lonely nights in her massive bed... none of it meant anything next to the fact that she was, still, alone.

When he called for her, when he showed an interest in seeing her... Anne moved mid-room and waved a hand.

Sam found himself not where he'd been a second ago. Which was in his kitchen, about to drink a glass of milk.

"The fuck?" He asked no one, hand still poised to reach for the glass. The room he'd found himself in was huge, HUGE. He could hear the ocean, smell it even. Everything was beautiful, he could see that. But where...

"Um?" He questioned aloud, turning to take in all of his surroundings. Then he saw Anne. His Anne. "Oh." he said, with an 'I get it now' sort of tone. He smiled at her, cautious. He'd missed her so much and he feared Aidan would be walking and talking by now and he'd have missed it because of some stupid fight.

"Hi, honey."

"Sam."

Selena appeared almost immediately through the big double doors in one corner. Anne held up a hand and shook her head, causing the woman to back through the door, closing it as she did. Anne turned back to Sam and smiled back. She'd missed his smile very much.

"I'm glad you came. I mean-" Her smile twitched into something larger for a moment and then she was all formality once more. "I missed you."

"I missed you, too." he admitted, taking a careful step towards her. His hands were open at his sides, and while the most beautiful thing in his world was standing right before him, his eyes couldn't stop moving to take in his surroundings. "I'm...I'm..." he stopped, and stepped up to her, careful not to tower over her like a threat, just to simply be. He took her small hand in his. "I'm sorry." he confessed, giving her hand the slightest squeeze.

Anne, very desperately, did not want to smile at Sam as he stared at the room he found himself in. And so, when he took her hand, she cupped it with her other one and tilted her head up to his.

"I'm sorry that I was so-" She wasn't sure what the best word to use was, and so stuck with, "demanding. Rude." A pause. "Bratty."

Once he was looking at her again, she smiled up at him. "I love you." Her smile got bigger. "Welcome to Troy."

"I'm sorry I was stubborn." He gently pulled her into his arms and kissed the top of her head. "I love you, too." He closed his eyes for a moment and just breathed her in.

"You brought me here, once before. It looked...different." He said, hinting that he was attempting a joke. "But this is...amazing. Are you alright? Is Aidan alright? I was worried."

Anne was so busy reveling in the feel of being back in Sam's arms that she took a moment before she answered. When she did, she took a deep breath she didn't need and pulled back, adjusting her chiton and nodding.

"Aidan is fine. Selena has done an amazing job of spoiling him rotten. The women here have gone a long time without having infants to spoil, so this has been quite a treat for them."

"I'll be he's loving it. He likes pretty girls." Sam grinned, a dimple dotting his smile. He took his beloved's hand and brought it to his lips and kissed it. "Well as long as he's okay, would you show me around? I mean, again."

He didn't let go of her hand, in order to keep it busy because she was wearing the Greek dress that starred in his fantasies and he didn't think mauling her right here and now was appopriate or timely.

She couldn't stop the light laugh when he mentioned the pretty girls. Selena wasn't ugly, sure, but pretty? The woman had to be going on four thousand. Still, Sam was right and Aidan WAS loving it, so she swung an arm wide and said, "This is my room. I mean, my bedroom. In there-" she pointed, "- the bathroom. Everything, you'll see, is done in marble. The tub is big enough for three."

Tugging on his hand she moved toward the double doors and they, of course, opened as she approached, guards firmly in place. "They make sure no one gets in without my say so," she offered, and then graced them each with a head nod and a simple, "Boys." And then she was pulling Sam along a white marble and gold lined hall. "This way."

Sam nodded in the appropriate places, taking in the lush surroundings. He remained skeptical about a tub big enough for three people, especially if he was one of the three. The guards gave him the hairy eyeball, and while he appreciated their concern for Anne's safety- he was tempted to trip one of them just for fun.

"Lead on, your higness-ness." He smirked, hoping she'd catch his Star Wars joke.

Anne walked him down the long hall, the wide staircase and showed him the formal rooms: dining, living, sitting and then the libraries, the kitchens and even the servants quarters. Everywhere the went, people bowed and curtsied and she nodded here and there, mostly keeping her attentions on Sam.

Finally, FINALLY, they were back near her room and she said, "It looks a little different than the last time you were here, right?" She was practically glowing. "I love it here."

And just like that, they were back in her room.

Sam took everything in as best as he could. The size of the palace was overwhelming...and made their house in London look like a treehouse or something.

"Does look a little different, yeah." He grinned while he rubbed the back of his neck, a gesture borrowed from Dean. "I can see why you love it, though. It's peaceful." He looked around her room again, ears on alert for the whereabouts of his son. He hadn't seen the little guy since Anne had taken him here and he had serious baby withdrawl.

It was true that the palace was enormous, but it had been around for several thousand years, so... yeah.

Anne took in his nervous gesture and clasped her hands in front of her with a smile. "Darling, I can tell you're a little overwhelmed. It's okay." And then she could tell what it was he wanted and she walked to a pair of double doors off to the side of her suite, through the sitting room. "In here."

In the nursery sat two women, nursemaids. Aidan's maids. They stood immediately, curtsied and explained that he was still sleeping. Anne nodded and motioned for Sam to the crib in the corner. "He's there. Just fine. Sleeping."

Sam nodded to the two nursemaids and gave Anne a quick smile before quietly crossing the room to the crib. There was his son, peacefully asleep. Sam smiled and ran a light touch over the front of Aidan's hair and held his little hand on one of his fingers.

"Hi, buddy. Daddy missed you." He whispered as the baby dreamed of his bottle, tiny smile playing on his lips.

He quietly backed away from the crib and took Anne in his arms again. "I missed you, too, you know."

Anne watched with a small smile as Sam reacquainted himself with his son. She could have watched him all day, really, it was just that sweet.

When he took her in his arms, she looked up at him and her smile softened. "Did you? I don't like fighting with you, Sam." She, of course, was ignoring the maids. The didn't exist for her and she wasn't embarrassed to discuss private stuff in front of them. "It makes me feel discontent and out of sorts and I hate feeling like I have to hide here."

"I don't like fighting with you either. Arguing is one thing but..." Because when she got all flushed and argued with him, it was hot.

"We shouldn't hide from each other. I know about needing space, but...from now on..we can try to be more...open. I guess. I don't know. I just missed you and it was over nothing and God, Anne." He hugged her close, inhaled the scent of her hair and skin. "I missed you."

"I missed you, too."

Snuggling up close to him, she rested her head against his chest. "I don't mean 'hide', exactly, but I do love to be here. I've missed being here. It's a part of me, Sam. I need to be here, too."

And then she pulled back. "Why is arguing with me okay?"

Sam walked them back into her room, because he didn't want to wake the baby.

"Arguing," he started, fingers idly playing with her hair. "Is okay because it's smart. There's a purpose to it, it's not like we're just shouting or trying to be right. Maybe I should have said debating. But I like it when you...debate with me. I like seeing that smart, sexy side of you."

He smiled

"Smart and sexy?" Anne fluttered her eyelashes and was suddenly holding a pair of glasses, which she placed on her face. "Look, now I have the glasses to complete the ensemble. I'm ready to... debate anything you'd like."

She was teasing him. Mostly, she liked it when he played with her hair, and she reciprocated by running a hand down his chest.

"Oh, babe. You don't need those to be smart...or sexy. But it helps." he grinned, kissing her on the nose softly. It used to freak him out when she did stuff like that. Used to.

"What'd you want to debate anyway?" He carefully untangled the loose ends of her long hair with his fingers, while his other hand held her firmly to him around her waist.

"I'm not up for a debate. I just thought you might like the props," she said as she wrinkled her nose in response to the kiss. "Debates end up arguments. In my line of work, it's so much easier to just give an order and have it done."

More or less. In Sam's world, there were no orders to give. She did everything herself.

"Props are good." Sam told her. "But orders...well, you know all about me and my dad." The face he made was enough to say what he wanted to say about that.

"D'you wanna do somethin while the baby's asleep?" He fully intended to spend some bonding time with the kid when he woke up. Sam'd missed his son.

"Not those kinds of orders," she said, waving a hand dismissively. As she thought about it, though, they may have been exactly those kinds of orders. "Well, the staff here have been here for thousands of years, Sam. It's what they do. They don't know any differently and would be offended if they were told their services were no longer needed."

That much was true. It had been hard enough on Selena when her mother had died and the servant had been unable to follow.

Looking around, she spread her arms wide. "We can do anything you'd like. You've seen some of the palace... how about the beach? The pools? The caves?"

He nodded, understanding her point, at least.

"I'd like to go swimming. Would you?" He asked, looking around again. This place and it's climate was a welcome change from England, that was for damn sure.

"Always." It was something she missed, living in London. "The question is, of course, would you prefer the ocean or the pools?"

There was a singular pool just below her room, connected by a staircase and also a separate set of pool that were interconnected, complete with small waterfall and hot tub. And then, the private beach. She explained the pros and cons, then added, "We can have dinner brought anywhere you'd like, too."

"Um, the big pool." he answered. "Sounds the best, and I'll bet the sun'll feel really good on us." Sam smiled. "You've got extra bathing suits, right? I didn't really have time to pack, you know." he winked, eyes laughing.

Anne looked happy here. He knew she would have to come back here more often, this truly was her home.

"Do you think, um, also that you could ask Selena to please bring Aidan outside when he's awake? I'd like to see him. Please."

Pulling out of his arms, Anne motioned to her rather enormous bathroom. "The shelf in there will have everything you need from toothbrushes to linen night pants to swimming shorts. You can change in there."

While he did that, she went back to the nursery to talk to the handmaiden in there. After expressing the importance of what she wanted - Aidan being brought outside immediately - she thanked the young girl sitting in the ancient rocking chair and went back into her room, her own clothing changing as she walked.

"Sam?"

Sam found a bathing suit that fit and light sunblock to smear on his chest and arms and face. It had been awhile since he'd been in the sun, so he wasn't taking chances with sunburn.

"Right here, gorgeous." He smiled at her, fully appreciating the view. "Would you put some on my back? I can't reach." He handed her the sunblock with a grin.

Anne had opted for red paisley because it made her hair look amazing. But seeing Sam in HIS shorts with no shirt on? She bit her lip and then grinned a smug little grin. "Of course, darling. You look very nice and with that chest, it's no wonder you can't reach your back."

Rather than just a handwave, Anne took her time with the massage and then turned him to face her. "No sunburn here, I promise." She, of course, didn't need it. "Are you ready?"

"Thank you." Sam enjoyed the attention she paid his back, groaning ever so softly. When she was done he kissed her, appreciatively. "Yup, I'm ready when you are."

She looked amazing in that suit. She looked amazing in everything, but jeez. This wasn't fair.

"Then let's go."

Anne let him out onto the balcony, which overlooked the ocean, then down the side stairs that circled around the side of the palace. Then over the tide pools and to the next balcony... and the pools.

"Here." There was already a bartender there, one who had gone ahead and began mixing juices once Anne had talked to the handmaiden in Aidan's nursery. "If you're thirsty or hungry. There are sandwiches to hold you over until dinner." She was undressing as she spoke, her hair winding itself intricately onto her head. "Last one in the pool is Zeus' bitch."

And in she dove.

Sam hadn't bothered to put on a shirt, and he kicked off the flip-flops at Anne's taunt and dove in after her. He loved the feeling of the water rushing around him, and as he surfaced, he pushed his wet hair back with one hand.

"C'mere, Princess." He grabbed Anne around the waist and held her to him, so easily in the pool.

The water was perfect for the weather and she grinned at him when he gathered her close. "Are you going to start calling me Princess now? I'm still just your Anne," she reminded him, wrapping her arms around his neck. "You know I love you, yes?"
