Who: Jack & Miniver
Where: Jack & Bill's place
When: Right after this
Why: year anniversaries, sorta
Warnings: likely. It's Jack & Miniver seriously.

Jack was right where he'd said he would be, curled up in his favorite chair, rather enjoying the cold snap because it gave him a reason to keep the fire going. Not that they ever really let it go out, but the recent snow was cause for an actual blaze.

He was quite comfortable, really, half-finished bottle of dinner sitting on the table beside his chair, either forgotten or ignored for the moment. After all, sometimes he just needed a little variety.

It's not long before the sound of the door opening and closing announces Miniver's arrival. He ambles in comfortably, feeling at home here as much as he ever has anywhere. The hippie drifts casually to Jack's chair and leans over the back, crossing his arms loosely over Jack's chest.

A silent, fond hello.

There was an amused, and equally fond, smile at that, tilting his head back to press a quick kiss to the line of Miniver's jaw, "Well hullo there pet. So nice of you to join me." The smile just went wry, and still wholly amused, "Have a seat, make yourself at home."

"I'd love to." Miniver gives Jack a soft purr before going to sprawl in front of the fire. Always cold, the little poet. At least today he looks relaxed. "This is nice. Very nice. Bill's not home tonight, then?"

Jack shrugged, stretching before settling again, "Don't believe he's gone out, no, but he's got to cataloging again, I'll likely interrupt him later, if he needs it." There was a wink then, still wholly amused, "Either that or he'll realize we've comp'ny and come down for a spell."

"Mmm. Work work work..." Miniver mumbles lazily, knowing he can himself get that way at times, and entirely content with keeping Jack's company. He tosses his hair over his shoulders and basks in the fire's warmth. "Y'oughta come down here. Vampires are always cold."

There was something that might have been a scoff, if it hadn't been as amused as it was, shaking his head, the beads in his hair clicking softly, "Aye, that we are, s'in our very nature."

He did, however, slide down from his chair to stretch out as well, leaning back on his hands, head tilting, just studying the other man for a moment, "Aye, you've a point. It is warmer here."

Miniver scoots just a tiny bit closer.

"Does it bother you, bein' so cold all the time?" he asks, and tilts back his head to bite playfully at Jack's hair.

There was an actual laugh at the biting, sweeping a hand up over his head to pull most of it out of reach, just in case, "Don't notice it most of th'time." He answered with a shrug, "Just th'way things are, savvy?"

"Mmm. Like, savvy, man," Miniver slurrs a bit as he headbutts Jack's shoulder. "So. Y'ain't given that bottle over there much attention. Bad vintage?"

He smiled crookedly at the first, scritching a hand gently through Miniver's hair at the headbutt, brow creasing at the question, "Hm?" And then, realizing, he shook his head, "I'd forgotten about it, actually."

Difficult to say whether this was the actual truth or not. It was likely that even Jack himself didn't know.

Miniver likes scritching. Loves to be touched, always has. He leans into the scritching with a smile -- leans and shows his pale throat as he does.

"That's nice. That's really nice. Man, I can see why you get to be Captain. No one can argue with this..."

He shifted smoothly, sitting up fully so that he could scratch both hands over Miniver's scalp, running them gently through his hair, petting, really. He was used to just how easily it melted Bill to do the same thing, "Don't see why they'd want to either."

Miniver melts about as easily as Bill.

"Iunno either," he mumbles, leaning towards Jack heavily, so heavily he almost loses his balance propped up on his elbows, but catches himself just in time.

"This should be illegal," he observes blissfully.

There was a rumble of amusement from the pirate. It wasn't quite as rough as Bill's was, nor as thunderous, it was just one of those things that they both did from time to time.

Jack shifted again, leaning back against his chair, one arm snaking around Miniver's waist, drawing the other man close, very nearly into his lap, really, scritching against the back of his neck with the other hand.

Miniver curls up in Jack's lap happily. His shoulders flex as Jack scritches him, and he reaches to tug his hair over one shoulder to make it less likely to tangle. He rolls his head a little, lightly nuzzling Jack's jaw.

This was, in fact, perfectly fine with Jack, since it meant that he could nuzzle back, smile spreading at the warmth of the poet against him, the hand that had been scritching against the nape of his neck sliding down his spine, easing him that much closer, almost cradling him, really, since the position was comfortable enough.
