Entry tags:keller cheevy, seth balmore

Who: Seth Balmore and Keller Cheevy.
What: ... I don't know what this is.
When: Saturday night.
Where: The club where Seth bounces in London.
Warnings: I'll go with yes.

Seth was leaning against the wall outside the club, waiting for someone to act like a moron in line, or for someone inside to tell her that someone needed to be taken care of. She tapped her leather boot against the brick, humming a little bit to herself. It had been a slow night, and she was actually getting kind of bored. Her ears perked up a bit when she heard a ruckus inside the club near the door, and she smirked. She rolled her neck slightly, waiting for something to happen.

Keller was, surprisingly, not part of the scuffle, though he had been, he just knew when to get out of the way through years of honed skills and getting into fights by accident, and sometimes on purpose.

He skirted around it, he was done for the night anyway. His brow arched at Seth outside, somehow he'd managed to miss her on the way in, "Well hello there."

Seth raised an eyebrow, looking up at the - well, gigantic person who had said hello to her. "Hi," she deadpanned, moving him forcefully to the side of the wall furthest from the door, just in case the scuffle ended up coming a bit closer.

It did, of course; eventually one of the other bouncers tossed the guy out, who of course decided to continue being douchey. Seth sighed and dropkicked him easily, sort of sad she wasn't allowed to bring her sword to work. It would've made everything easier.

He 'oof'ed when he was pushed to the wall, grinning a moment later as he watched her work, brow arching, a slow, easy smile melting into place, "That was pretty awesome. When do you get off babe?"

Normally that kind of talk would have irritated her - she wasn't anyone's 'babe', she was older than the club itself, but he hadn't protested too much when she'd moved him. She finished shoving the guy on the ground aside, telling him to go home, and then looked at her watch. "Ten minutes ago. Huh. Why?"

He shrugged, "Because this place kind of blows, and there's still a lot of night left." His smile was easy still, amused, "This what you do for fun too?"

"The beating people up is my job until I can get my ship fixed. Fun? That's something else." She shrugged and started walking, figuring he'd follow if he wanted. She was probably the only bouncer in London in a floofy skirt.

He did follow, and it wasn't all that hard for him to keep up, but that was because he had a longer stride than she did, turning to walk backwards for a few paces, "I'm Keller by the way."

"Seth," she said, looking up at him. "Where are we going, anyway?" She shook her head at his height; walking while looking up to meet his eyes was going to make her dizzy.

He shrugged, "Dunno, you know anywhere around here that's better than this place? I'm still getting used to the city, got dropped here a while ago, then went on a motorcycle trip through the mountains and stuff, I'm not used to being stuck anywhere."

"Not really. Normally I just go back to my ship and work on fixing it up, but without magical engines..." She trailed off and shook her head. "I'm not from here, and I probably haven't explored how I should. How were the mountains?"

He shrugged, "Kind of humbling, and I'm not the kind of guy who says that about nature and shit. Kind of understand why the shortstack does it so often, his whole going out in the woods to commune with nature for a few days thing."

He blinked then, what she'd said finally having caught up to him, "Wait, magical engines?" Because he could have mis-heard.

"The who? And nature's always humbling - it'll be around a lot longer than me, and that's saying something." She shrugged and chuckled when he got clarification. "Yeah, magical engines. I can't believe you guys have gotten this far without magical energy. But none of your ships that I've seen go underwater as fast as I'm used to. Sails are slow." She shrugged. "How's a pirate like me supposed to make a getaway in a sailboat?"

"Shortstack. He's my half-brother's other half-brother. Family's pretty fucked up." He shrugged, hands in his pockets, trusting his feet to find them some good little dive, "And... uh, isn't that what pirates usually do? The sails I mean. Fuck if I know, never met one before."

"Sounds like it. I wouldn't know - my son's back where I'm ... kind of from, and his father died in a war we were fighting." She shrugged and walked next to him, sometimes taking two steps to keep up. But when he said he'd never met a pirate, she grinned and extended her hand. "You have now. Captain Seth Balmore. Pretty infamous where I'm from, really."

"That... well that blows out loud." Keller, always good with the comfort. Sure.

Both brows arched, but he accepted the handshake, the crooked smile returning, "Pleasure's all mine."

"Oh, when a girl gets to be my age she's used to outliving everyone." Sed, her son, was in his late sixties himself, and Seth knew he wouldn't last too much longer. "And being a soldier for about five hundred years doesn't help much."

When she saw him smile, she arched her brows again in return and chuckled. "Better not be."

He blinked, wiggling a finger in his ear for a moment, "Did you just say five hundred years?" He had to get that one cleared up, because that was just weird.

Sure, he knew about Other Things being here, but he hadn't met any of them yet, at least to his knowledge.

"Give or take. My memory was taken from me for most of it, but what I can remember, I'm a thousand years old. Fought for the Uhran army for 500 of those years, yeah." She shrugged and did a few impromptu backflips, coming to walk on her hands for a while. It didn't really matter to her that she was in a skirt.

"Well... you, uh, don't look a day over 600." Leave it to Keller to take this news and make it work the same way he usually did.

There was a crooked smile a moment later, "Here, think this might be a good place." 'Good' in this case meaning that the floor was almost sticky enough to qualify as a roach motel and the windows were warped and spiderweb cracked in places.

"Flatterer." She was grinning as she said it, mostly because she knew that she still looked like she was in her twenties.

She flipped so she was back on her feet and walked into the place Keller had suggested, moving to the bar and asking for ale. She was glad every universe seemed to have ale of some variety, and she was soon handed a mug of it. Keller had chosen well; Seth immediately felt at home, and grinned as she waited for him to hurry up and join her.

He shrugged as he perched on the next seat over, "Same for me." A smile at Seth then, giving another one-shouldered shrug, "What can I say, some women never show their age. You're one of the lucky ones." The smile just went broader, "Or maybe I am, since you're out with me and not somebody else."

She wrinkled her nose a little as she laughed. "Please - I'm out with you because I want to be, you don't have to keep trying." He reminded her of Jansen, only less drunk. Which was good.
