She didn't respond right away. Instead, Carrie just watched him closely, noting the hunch of his shoulders and how heavily he leaned on his cane. They were standing only a few feet apart from one another, but it seemed there was a world of distance between them now. He wasn't her Bruce, Carrie realized. He wasn't the Bruce that had left. This man was much more human. Maybe he'd always been this human and she'd just never noticed before. She wondered if he even wore the cowl anymore, but didn't ask. If he revealed that he was done with crime fighting, she imagined she'd start crying again.
This couldn't go on forever. Exhaling quietly, Carrie silently debated for a few moments. Nodding slowly, she muttered, "Yeah, you should go."
