Who: Torii & Soren
Where: Turner-Brennan Household and perhaps elsewhere
Why: COFFEE! WHEE!
When: Now-ish
Warnings: er... rampant giggling perhaps.

For once Brenda hadn't had to call anyone to come rescue her from Torii's coffee buzz, Torii had done it herself. Though if the message she left was anything more understandable than: "SORENSORENSORENSORENSORENGUESSWHAT!" followed by manic giggling was anyone's guess.

He could probably figure it out though, living with Cass and all.

Yeah, Soren could guess what.

He left directly from Sable's and travelled to his Aunt Brenda's and Uncle Teague's, stopping by a 24-hour pharmacy and picking up some jellybeans. He found that he liked Torii when she was vibrating at the same speed as atoms, and tended to fuel that with sugar. One day, he was sure she'd be able to see the sub-atomic particles she was made of, and that would be an interesting day.

Arriving about twenty minutes after he got the message, he knocked on the door twice before entering. "Torii? Please don't knock me over with your joy, but I'm here."

"SOREN! DUDE! DUDE! DUDE! DUDEDUDEDUDE!" And that was apparently where she forgot what she was going to say.

The best clue to this was when she said: "I totally forgot what I was just going to say. But you're here! That's awesome! ... why are you here?"

Yeah, there was vibrating going on. Could probably make milkshakes just by giving her the cup.

Soren blinked.

"You called me, dork." Then he shook his head and let his palm rest on the top of hers. "Jesus, you're - okay, yeah, not so much with the coffee for you."

"ButIlikecoffee." She was pouting, just a little. It vanished just as quickly though, "And I didn't have any after dark! That's the laaaaw."

She caught his arm then, dragging him to the empty kitchen, "C'mon, you can help me put glitter on stuff."

What kind of stuff? EVERYTHING

He blinked. "Can we put some in my hair?" Not that Soren liked glittery things or anything. Nope. Not at all. He was Manly. Manly, Manly, Manly.

"You're the best not-really-unclenephew ever!"

She gave him a quick, impulsive, and completely Torii hug before bounding off to get the box of glitter, "DUDEDUDEDUDE DUDE DUUUUUDE! We should decopauge the kitchen table with like, pictures of... tables and stuff!"

Soren just laughed and obediantly sat down on the tiled floor. When he heard her idea, he winced. "I hate to say this? But ask your mother before you make her table more awesome."

She very nearly cackled at that, "Mom doesn't live here! She's got her own place, and Brenda's been meaning to do something with the table since forever, she's just never gotten around to re-finishing it."

She checked the clock, "And it'd have enough time for a basecoat to dry before she's doing anything to it."

She'd already gotten out the Elmer's glue, since it was water soluble, giving Soren the box of glitter, "Pick some colors."

Soren just winced and laughed a little. "Blue and green, please." His favorite colors were easy because they went together. He didn't even know what they were doing, but figured he'd follow Torii's lead.

Chances were good that by the time she was done glittering his hair she'd have either crashed or forgotten about the decopauge idea.

She hummed to herself, working his hair into sections and setting out the blue and green glitter, finding a brush in the box and grinning, just painting blocks of glue into his hair and dusting over them with the glitter.

It ended up in sort of a wobbly-edged checkerboard, Torii humming off-key the whole time she worked, no tune in particular, really, just whatever was buzzing in her head.

Soren leaned back and grinned, humming along with her (albeit on-key and in a very soothing way). He eventually started singing songs that he'd learned as a kid - silly nonsense campfire songs, mostly, leaning back and letting her play with his hair. Having his hair played with, even if it was getting glitter put in, was something that relaxed him and made him act even more like a large housecat than normal. "Am I terribly pretty?" He was teasing. Mostly.

"Oh totally." She said with a nod, working at seperating out the colored bits in her own hair, it was easy for her to tell them apart even being colorblind, the shade was different.

She hummed again, thinking and scanning over the lids of the glitter to find the purple, glad that Brenda had labeled them for her, she grinned when she found the purple, dunking her hair in the glue and then in the jar of glitter, "Taa-daa! Now what should we do while we wait for it to dry?"

"Uh, probably eat the jellybeans I bought you and play something on the guitar." He nodded firmly and popped up to grab the bag from by the door, where he'd set it down. "I call red ones."

"YOU BRUNG JELLYBEANS?" Torii tended to only like gum or lollipops, and never at the same time. She did, however, also like caramel, gumdrops, and jellybeans, but only when she was already full of coffee.

She stuck her tongue out at him, "NO! Because you'll have to tell me which ones are red, and you'll just claim all the good ones!"

"Brung?" Soren laughed and started to noogie her hair, but thought better of getting a fistful of glue. Instead, he socked her in the arm and rolled his eyes. "Fine, we'll just split them down the middle. You can even count." He stuck out his tongue at her, then went to open the package.

She grinned at that, getting a couple of snackbowls out of a cabinet, just pouring the jellybeans into them before sitting with one in either hand, apparently pretending to be a scale, she handed one over a moment later, just leaning back against the cabinet, "These better not be the ones that taste like, uh, you know, stuff that's not actually edible and stuff."

"Nah, they're the ones that just taste like sugar. Like, red sugar. Or blue sugar. You can probably tell them by taste." He flopped down and took the bowl from her, throwing a jellybean into his mouth in a careful arc.

"Yeah, I probably could, except that I don't know what colors they're supposed to be. So I should just make up my own!"

She chomped one, head tilting as she gnawed, "Whatever that one was it was totally drosh. Burnt drosh."

"Honestly, that's all colors are, anyway, just really old madup words." He tossed another one in his mouth, chewing thoughtfully. "Nope, it just tastes like sugar. Which I imagine is all your bloodstream is made of."

"That's all all words are, just something people made up a long time ago. That's how like, everything works. Language and spelling and counting and words and colors and clothes and furniture and like, you know, the whole world."

Still vibrating? Check!

"Jacques Derrida would have loved you," Soren chuckled. He ruffled her hair some more. "But you're right. And even words don't have the same meanings to everyone." He shrugged and ate some more candy, reaching up to tentatively feel if his hair was dry yet.

"I don't think he liked anybody though, that was kind of his schtick wasn't it?"

Another shrug, "Whatever, I'm a more devout follower of Ted Geisel anyway."

His hair was probably mostly dry at that point, just a little stiff, but no worse than a strong-hold mousse would do to it.

"Decoupage. It's like... uh, scrapbooking and shellacking combined. You cut pictures out and paste them down with modpodge, which is the glue, and I'm pretty sure that Brennie's got some of the kind with glitter in it."

She shrugged, "It's good for all sorts of stuff, boxes and pictureframes and whatever. I've always wanted to do something bigger though, like a table."

He might have loved children's books (mostly those intended for girls), but crafts were a bit beyond him. He chuckled and scratched his head. "You start, I'll follow your lead. I don't want to mess things up."

"You any good with scissors? I can go get the Better Homes & Gardens magazines with all the pictures in them, I can do the gluing if you can do the cutting!"

Still vibrating. Probably not going to stop anytime soon.

"I can do that until you come down, yeah." He chuckled and shook his head, flopping back down on the floor and shoving five or so jellybeans into his mouth. "Just tell me what pictures," he said, only his mouth was full so it sounded more like "offt ell eee aagh ickurs."

"EEE!" She managed to hug him even when he was sprawled, scampering off and returning with a stack of magazines, two pair of scissors and a milk crate with the mod podge bottles, "Anything that's furniture or appliances, maybe even some houseplants for the legs, that'd be cool."

Soren nodded and set to cutting. Being Cass' best friend for his entire life had paid off; his hand was steady and his lines were ruler-accurate without really much effort on his behalf. He set them in tiny piles by type - furniture, appliance, and plant.

And Torii was just a flurry of motion, pasting pictures down with the plain glue and painting over them with the glitter glue, working up the table legs and then across the top, taking the pictures in fistfulls, humming again.

This time it was almost recognizable, though not as anything in particular.

As he cut, Soren hummed a harmony to Torii's lead melody, actually enjoying himself. It wasn't something he would think to do for fun if left to his own devices, but with good company, it was good.

Once it was finished, some hour and a half later, Torii grinned, flopping down onto the kitchen floor, "It'll be all sparkly in the morning. You know, the later morning, when there's actual sunlight and stuff."

Crash imminent!

Soren could tell she was about to pass out as easily as if she'd had a little battery sign on her forehead. "C'mon, squirt, let's get you tucked in." It was still a little odd, considering he was used to her being older than him.
