He winced, then put his fork down as well and looked at her.
"Because now we have a family, and we need a home that we can trust, and a ship will always be vulnerable, no matter how good it is. A land based home has a lot more advantages, and a lot more ways to secure it..."
He rubbed his face.
"And we will be watching. I still have other ideas. And if we need to move before then, we do. Right now, we have no way of knowing where he is, or what his plans are. Here, in the subbasement, I can build equipment he will not be able to escape the detection of. Here, I can forge a weapon to stop him. Here, I can work with you to keep our family safe and maybe just other people too, but I can't do any of it if I worry all the time that we and you and our children will not be safe."
