who. Rachel and Rose
what. Some talk and girl bonding
when. Last night
where. Emma Frost's swank mansion of strays and ne'er-do-wells
A trip out into the wild with her father had done wonders to improve Rose's spirit. But she still wasn't anywhere near healed after finding out what she'd become in a few hundred years. So when got home, after a rough talk with James and uncomfortable communications with the people she'd hurt, Rose found herself fighting back tears yet again. Before it had all happened, before she had turned into a monster, Rose wouldn't have been able to remember the last time she'd cried so much. She wouldn't have believed herself even capable of having so many tears to shed.
It was Rachel's words that had her sniffling most. Guilt and hope mingled within Rose; guilt over what she'd done and over the fact that Rachel was trying to console her, hope that what Rachel had said about being better and being able to smile was true. Sitting alone in her room, Rose let tears fall quietly for a few minutes before rising from the edge of her mattress and heading to her bathroom. She washed her face, hoping that the signs would be washed away. Her cheeks were still puffy and her eyes were still red, but at least the tear tracks were gone.
She made her way slowly down the hallway, her arms wrapped around herself as if to shield off cold. Eventually, she found herself standing before Rachel's door. After a moment's hesitation where she considered running back to her room, she knocked lightly and waited.
