It was morning, and Shang Tsung was sipping on his glass of tea. He was picking at his breakfast, and looking at the clock. Sonya was sleeping in later than usual… Must have been her pregnancy? He wasn’t that hungry today, but he wasn’t quite sure what it was.

	28..ten years from now. And what was he going on about 'Realms' and magic, he spoke like royalty. She signed,looking lost. "Magic and realms...this doesn't make any sense at all." 	Shang Tsung went to the kitchen and got her a plate with utensils. He motioned for her to have a seat. "There's plenty of breakfast, and all that right here. You don't really have to ask." 	She dove into her food, nerves not taking away her appetite, she took a few bites before looking up. "Could you start at the beginning please, like how we first met?" It was still creepy, finding out she was 'married', and apparently he was wealthy-god, she was hoping she didn't end up a trophy wife. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

Shang Tsung thought for a moment, how was he going to explain the story to an eighteen year old girl? How was he going to explain the Mortal Kombat tournament, the death of her friends, the marriage, the transition to this realm... or anything? He chose to lie.

"We met in New York city. I was friends with your brother actually... we fell in love fairly quickly, and got married. I'm the owner of The Mariot Hotel chains actually. Not a lot to the story."

	..something didn't side right with her, then again-how'd she explain all of this. "You said something about 'realms'? You mean like..another 'kingdom'?" Wasn't that what a realm was, a kingdom or territory? (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

Shang Tsung maintained his composure perfectly at this question, as he had already thought about this gaping hole in the story. "I merely meant countries you see. My family came from China, and they were very cultural."

He looked at her and added, "I suppose I should tell you that your brother passed away years ago... it was a sad day." It was cruel, but he thought it would get her off the subject.

Sonya felt her stomach drop, and she pushed her plate away.

Danny..brother...the same one who laughed as easily as it was breathing, who kept her company when they had to move and she wasn't familiar enough with the language to talk to anyone else..

She noted something else..how he said that he died, there was no emotion, it was like the sergeants in the military when they gave bad news, but they were at least had compassion. She deduced that they might've not been married long, or he would've surely know Danniel Blade enough to have more of a reaction.

"Danny.."that was all she could think to say..her eyes suddenly started to burn, her throat tighten up. She just saw Danny last week. "How..do..do you know what happened?"

	Shang Tsung nodded. "Yes," he said. "It was a horrible car accident. I remember the day vividly... it was very long ago, but it seems like it was just yesterday. I miss him greatly." 	..he was lying..how he told the story. If it was true,why..did he not miss him as much as he did, and he was just trying to make her feel better. Sonya steeled herself up, she hated being patronized. "It's good..that he didn't suffer. Just as well the driver died-idiot for getting drunk in the first place." (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

Shang Tsung read into her soul, and felt all of her doubt. He would have to stifle that somehow. "It happened about eight years ago," Shang Tsung said. "I knew him because we had met at an airport. We actually didn't get married until years after he passed away. I know I don't seem as upset as I should be, but in my culture we don't really remorse those who are lost... we just celebrate the time we had with them."

	Shang Tsung would have been cornered, but luckily for him it would be impossible for Sonya to find anything. They were both new to this realm, and there would be no proof to back up anything she could find. He wasn't doing this to be cruel, he just didn't want Sonya to do anything reckless. The rest of the day was fascinating..and yet disturbing as well. A whole decade of events that've happened to her. Was very overwhelming. There weren't much as far as military records, but having found her ID, Sonya discovered she had made it to the rank of captain-not bad, but she thought she'd be a higher rank by that age.

Judging from the clothes, and there was even a place for training-Sonya figured she must've been built like a brick house. But the clothing sizes where small so she must've been very lean as well.

What was a real surprise however, was the large library and study that she'd come across. Contrary to popular opinion, Sonya had done a lot of reading in her time-there wasn't much else to do between the long trips between base. But the books in the libary, the subject matter was heavy. Having to do with Asian mythologizes,alchemy? Taking one off the shelves, she was shocked to find out how serious the books were-it wasn't just theories, but actual experiments.

There was also the strange tools in the room as well. They reminded her of her chemistry professors, but half of the tools' purposes were lost on her.

Still, she'd have an interesting time with the reading..not like she had much else to do.
