"Okay," Carrie said. She pulled off her gloves and hooked them onto her belt, not needing them here. "Dude," Carrie said to one of the nurses, "She needs her... spinal tap..." there was a better word for it, probably, but Carrie didn't know squat about giving birth. "She's in pain. Do something." She did her best to glare impressively. The nurse promised to do what she could. This wasn't exactly comforting.
"Welcome," Carrie said, looking around the room warily. She hated hospitals. "This shouldn't take long, right? I mean... it'll hurt for ten minutes and then it pops out and you'll be fine." She was trying to be nice, she just was ill equipped for this sort of thing.
