Shang Tsung has one more day, and then his wife would be moved into his mansion. He never thought he would be this excited to be living with his wife, but if being in a strange realm taught you anything, it was to appreciate friendly faces... not that he and his wife were always friendly to each other. Their relationship was an odd one.

The servants were cleaning the place up, even though it was spotless. Shang Tsung went over to Charles.

"Charles you know this mansion better than I do. I need a big room, one that is preferably not frequented. Do you know such a room?"

Charles looked down at him, "Yes I do Master Tsung. Shall I take you to it?"

"Please do," replied Tsung.

	"I guess I'm just too detached," he said slowly. "I forgot how much the past hurts you. My time on this world blends together, I didn't realize that it hasn't been too long since... since all that stuff happened. I know this must be hard for you... everyone isn't as cold as I am." She laughed. "I'm a soldier, a soldier's supposed to be detached, not worry about the lives lost because of some screw up. It's funny though, usually I'm the one they yell at about how cold I am-though I suppose I'm just an expert at hiding it." She turned toward him. "That's probably just because you've lived so long, it's hard to not grow cold. Jesus..you're a freakin history book, more or less." She laughed again.

..it's possible that 'sonya's' left the building.

"I thought the conquering of Earthrealm was something that would make me happy... I thought the death of my enemies would make my life complete... but it didn't. Even when I killed Shao Kahn it was only out of self preservation. I don't know, maybe I am not as ambitious as I always though I was," Shang Tsung said slowly. He looked over to her. "Or maybe you're my weakness."

" You're very ambitious, but it's hard to find ambitions when you've already accomplished something." She thought a moment. "First, your ambition was to learn sorcery and keep on living, then it was to survive Outworld and destroy Kahn so you no longer have to cower to him, then there were my friends...maybe you just need to find something else to go for." She smiled a little at him. "I'm flattered, and since I do in some way care about you-non of this coversation will leave this room. Soldier's honor" She gave him a salute.

"You've never had reason to trust anyone before, as for me. well, regardless of what you may think, I'd never betray you..just like I might not be crazy for my commanding officer, but I'd never betray him either. Not to mention, I consider it a fair trade, you know what's in my soul after all and I don't think I could even read yours-so it's even."

She opened the garage door, starting the car and heading out towards the city.

"And traveling by portal was fun too." she muttered back.

With it being a sunday afternoon, there wasn't much traffic. Still, Sonya's military ID acted as a 'EZPass' and allowed her to get through the longer traffic lines without having to wait.

She smirked when they drove into the city and headed to a 'weathly' part of town. She found a good parking spot and pulled over. "Elder Gods, no one actually died." She said deadpan and got out of the car.

	Shang Tsung disregarded the last comment, and followed her inside. It was weird for him to be strange in a place, and be seeking Sonya for advice. 	The restaurant was casual/fine dining, tuscan italian fare. Sonya told the host that they'd like a 'table for two' and 'non-smoking'. The man seated them at a table next to the window over looking the passerby and handed them each a menu, telling them that their server would be by shortly. 	"This place is quite odd," said Shang Tsung with a frown. He looked around, and felt quite out of place. Some people across the room were being entirely too loud, and he glared at them. The server caught him off guard. "Hello," he said. "What can I get you all to drink today?" "Water?" said Shang Tsung with a shrug. He was really out of his element. Sonya ordered the same. The waiter left to get their drinks. "You've been to taverns I imagine..it's just like that only a lot more high class."

She looked at the table across from them on the right and smile a little. "let me know if I'm right." In the direction were two men in business suits talking over lumch, Sonya closed her eyes. "One of them is nervous...it's the one on the right. He wants to succeed in a deal, but..there's also fear. He's near bankruptcy and is desperate to avoid it."

"Good job Sonya," he took her hand, but quickly released it. "You're catching on. I'm afraid that he will not succeed in this dealing... the one on the left is quite uninterested. It would seem that he doesn't think too much of him."

Shang Tsung took a sip of his water. "Outworld Taverns are quite different from this. I'd actually say this is quite preferable. No miscreants coming around."

Shang Tsung looked at his menu and frowned. "I don't know what hardly any of this is. I think I'll just have whatever you get?"

She smiled her thanks.

A server came up their table, giving them a basket of rolls with olive oil and herbs for dipping before asking if they where ready to order. Sonya ordered them both a veal scalepini with angel hair pasta, deciding it would be simple enough and yet still up to standard.

She resumed talking when the server left. "It was easier this time, though I think it was also due to the nervous man putting on a poor show of overconfidence." She took a sip of water

	"It gets easier each time," he said trying one of the rolls. "You saw through his facade as well? Part of the trick if you will, is to put away those preconceived notions, they often cloud judgment you see. But like I said I'm quite impressed with your progress." He examined her. She picked at a roll to. "I sometimes have to interrogate suspects and the like, and in a combat situation, the target will usually try to make demands from us." She swallows. "This ability should save us a lot of time if we have anyone for interrogation, since for obvious reasons, they won't talk that easily. Unless of course you manage to get through their facade, then they get desperate and make it even easier."

Sonya blinked and looked at herself: denim trousers, button, down blouse..while by no means sloppy, it wasn't really 'elegant' either. "Maybe it's because I'm not sporting any bruises anything?" It was the best guess she could come up with.

"It's probably the fact that you're more dignified than most of the slob women I've seen around this town. I honestly would have never found anyone if you hadn't been in this realm... I can promise you that much."

He shifted in his seat, and sipped on his water. "You're definitely an enigma... on any realm. These people are all so simple minded, I've never met anybody around here with a great mind. Their souls are readable without the slightest of efforts, it will be most difficult to find a real test for you... If only I could make you read your own soul."

"Atleast that way I wouldn't have to worry about you cheating on me."

She ran her thumb across her water glass. "If I'm more dignified it's because I've had to be, military bearing plus, in Outworld-image is everything. As for being an enigma, again it's from Outworld. Honestly, had I not shielded my soul from the shadow priests and their interrogations, I would've gone mad at best, completely broken and useless at worst." Her eyebrows lowered. "So, what you seen now, is probably just the result of me staying in Outworld."

She bit her lip. "Here's a question for you? And to save me the trouble of getting another headache, just be truthful."
