Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
Entry tags:anthony j crowley, aziraphale

Who: Aziraphale and Crowley
What: Reuniting Zira with his books
Where: A series of book rooms at Oxford
When: Tonight
Warnings: So an angel and a demon poofed into a book room...yeah. NWS, kids.

There was really no need to stand so close to the demon, and yet Aziraphale stood as close to Crowley as he could. He simply wanted to be near him, to take in the sight and the smell of him. Besides, he'd always rather loathed the swirling motion of transporting across time and space, especially going across the great sea. He emerged on the other side, landing as always on his feet, but feeling slightly off balance, as if the ground were moving beneath his feet. It was, he knew, the law of physics, a body in motion stayed in motion. Well, it was as good an excuse as any to stumble a step, directly into the demon's arms.

"Oh dear me," he muttered, seeming apologetic when the move was well rehearsed and very calculated. "Pardon me, my dear. I must've lost my footing."

"You're quite lucky you're not balding, dear." He sighed, seeming to have a thought. "Come now, move to the floor. I can't let you go in public, looking like you've been ravaged." He chose to ignore that the angel hid his wings in public, much as he did. He also glossed over the intimacy the act inherently possessed, given the sensitive nature of his feathers. Crowley decided suddenly, it was simply for the matter of aesthetics, and wanting to look at a well-groomed Angel, rather than a heap of feathers.

"really, my dear," Zira feigned protest, giving Crowley A Look, even as he moved off the demon's lap and stretched himself out on the floor. "I simply haven't got 'round to plucking out the broken ones, lately."

Crowley held firm at the Angel's protest, only to relax slightly as he watched Zira move to sit on the ground in front of him. He started with the outside of the wings, as the other's back was to him, and they were slightly less sensitive to the touch. The plucking was surprisingly gentle, a practiced hand weaving the feathers back down into a respectable order.

Zira bent his head, and bit his bottom lip. Crowley's hands were far more gentle than he'd expected, but still, the shifting and plucking of the bent, broken, or ill formed feathers hurt. He turned his shoulders into or away from the touch, but didn't actively fight Crowley on it.

It was true, demons took far better care to groom their feathers, than angels.

He could tell the angel was hurting, and felt... something, at the realization. Pausing for a moment, he gently ran a hand down the Angel's wing.

"I'm just trying to help, dear," He didn't continue, giving Zira ample time to ask him to stop.

"Of course, dear. it's fine. Do continue," Zira nodded, to reaffirm his request. Crowley had started, and Zira didn't feel inclined to stop him halfway, when his wings felt somewhat lopsided, with one groomed and one still a heaping mess of tangled feathers.

Crowley moved to the other wing, preening him faster, but no less careful. He enjoyed the feel of the softer, powdery Angel down against his fingers, and slowed as he finally set to smoothing the feathers back down, letting the newer growth of feathers tickle his hand, a soft powder floating away from the surface. Leaning down, he gave himself the pretext of kissing the Angel's neck to take a whiff, humming as the scent of it danced in his head, intoxicating.

There was a reason the humans had a drug called Angel Dust. It was literally enough to drive him wild.

Once the plucking gave way to caresses, Zira gave a soft sigh, his posture relaxing somewhat. He smiled, to feel what Crowley was doing, and the kiss to his neck, along with an intake of Crowley's breath, made Zira shiver with delight.

If possible, his eyes would have fluttered as he felt his senses overrun with the high, his mind already shutting down, but for keeping the Angel close, and happy, and his. It was a shame, a sin almost, that the angels had access to such a thing at will, if only they would take time to pluck their damn wings, and yet they let it all go to waste, in the name of modesty.

This was a small piece, his small piece of Heaven, now, and he would move the Earth to keep it.

His chin moved to rest against the Angel's shoulder one he'd had his fill, mouth lazily drawing the lobe of his ear in his mouth to worry between gentle teeth.

It was an entirely different sensation to have another groom the wings, and Zira could definitely make this part of the routine. He was inclined, at some point, now, to ask Crowley if he could do the same. It was, Zira realised, an intimacy that had nothing to do with sex, and everything to do with trust.

He purred happily, and shifted to lean back and rest his body against Crowley.

Crowley's wings were in good shape, considering he preened more than once a year, but sensing the relaxation in his Angel's posture, he would take care to let them slip a little, to have the favor returned.

Careful not to disturb Zira too much, Crowley shifted to the floor behind him, pulling his Angel back so his wings rested on Crowley's chest. "There," He sounded content, as close to blissful as a demon was able to achieve.

"Yes," Zira murmured. "Thank you, my dear one." He closed his eyes, completely relaxed in Crowley's embrace.

"You're welcome, Love," He tried the endearment in its original form, a term between Angels, kindred souls. He found, without the human addition of romance, he could stomach it, he believed it. The realization made one corner of his mouth rise in a smile.

Perhaps he was learning. The point of a demon, after all, was to cross boundaries. Now, he simply had to adjust to crossing Hell's, so he could give Love to his Angel.

Zira felt something he could only describe as warm and safe, and thus beautiful, at Crowley's sentiment. He smiled softly, and leaned his head back to the demon's shoulder. He was content, happier, perhaps, than he'd ever been. Everything had fallen so perfectly into place.

Crowley was poised to make a jab at Zira, about being smug in himself, but something held him back. The moment was... comfortable, almost perfectly so, and he wanted to take time to enjoy his small victory, before trying for the next.

Zira turned his chin up, and placed a small, unassuming kiss, to he demon's chin.

That earned the Angel a smile, as Crowley rolled his shoulders to stretch.

After a long moment, he sighed, glancing down at his Adversary. "There is, in fact, a couch for this sort of thing, dear,"

"Is there? Huh." Zira sat up and stretched, allowing his wings to flutter and ripple with the newfound neatness. There was some ache, left, from the grooming, but over all it felt a lot better, a lot lighter than the mass of feathers had been before.

Crowley watched with a strange air of worry, wanting to make sure the Angel wasn't too sore from the preening. It was concern, he realized, and that just wasn't something a demon did.

Trying to hide a frown in a completely unnecessary yawn, the demon moved to the couch, draping himself along it with room for Zira to lie on him, or on the other side.

Zira scratched at the back of his neck before settling against Crowley. Not on him, so much as against him. For so long, since the beginning of time, really, they had been Against each other, Opposing Sides, and what not. It was nice, now, to join together, to take comfort with the other.

Arms came up, to wrap around Aziraphale's middle, holding him close. It was strange for him, a new experience, to be so close to someone, without having a violent or sexual connotation. But he didn't find it altogether uncomfortable, and indeed, decided he liked it much better than the alternative, of sending his Angel away.

"This is quite nice, dear," Zira murmured. Sleep was wholly unnecessary, as were food and drink, and sex. But Zira found this to be a time to indulge, to simply let his guard down, and allow himself to relax.

"I thought you might want them back. At least for sentimental value. And it gave me good reason to go harass a few institutions, to retrieve the more important ones." He couldn't come out and say, he wanted to do it for his Angel, but the vibe was obvious in his posture.

leaning back into the couch, he relaxed as well, willing to indulge in a nap, so long as his Angel stayed close.

"Of course, dear," Zira murmured, already letting himself drift. He hadn't been referring to the books, exclusively, but he'd let the demon slide with the comment, for now.
