After reading Dean's last comment on the board, Bela headed straight for the shower. Her hair was combed, and she was dressed - she'd even tried to mask any lingering liquor smell with perfume. She figured whatever was about to happen, she could at least look the part. Whether he would take her back or dump her, at least she could look like a pretty woman. Now where the hell was he?

	Dean's heart was threatening to pound out of his chest. HIs palms were slick when he rang the bell to her flat, immediately dropping to one knee. He didn't want to wait, wanted to ask right away. 	She leaned against the doorframe, both irritated and still stunned. "I didn't expect to see you ... like that!" On one knee, Bela? This can't be happening; you insulted him! "I can't get off my knee until I've asked you something." He sort of shuffled inside, staying on one knee and kicking the door shut behind him.

He swallowed hard, and looked at her. "By all rights, I should probably hate you, but I don't. I really don't. The stuff you did that's ... questionable wasn't a you I know. The you I do know is this really gorgeous, funny, damn smart, damn scared lady, and I kind of love her. And really want to spend the rest of my life getting to know." He felt his heart raise up into his throat, and he cleared it, trying to get the muscle to descend back into his chest.

"Will you marry me, Sugartits?"

He was good, she had to admit. Bela was in tears by the time he finished talking, though it turned into laughter at the end - she couldn't hit him for trying to be funny at a time like this. She thought she understood - he was trying to make her laugh, to tell her he wasn't mad and she hadn't buggered this beyond repair.

Still, one last reservation twanged in her mind. "Before I answer, let me explain something." It might not fit the mood, but she owed him the explanation. He'd yelled at her that he knew nothing about her past - if he was going to marry her, well, Bela figured that he ought to. "Please?"

"That's fair." Bela looked over at him faintly apologetically, but figured she'd just speak fast. "You told me you knew nothing about me. You need to know one thing."

As she'd already thought, now or never. "When I was younger - about fourteen - I made a deal with a demon called Lilith for her to kill my parents." It landed in the room like a glob of spit, but she had to keep talking. He'd shown this much trust in her. "My father would - come to my room at night. And my mother did nothing." Her voice was flat, but she didn't get emotional. It had been too long. "Lilith killed them. I was free and got their money. Lived my life. But then the deal was coming due. And I was out of leads ... desperate."

She shrugged, looking down at him. "I stole the Colt. Figured I'd use it to kill her. Put the Feds on you to keep you occupied." She was trusting him not to throw her away, not to take it back. Her hands were shaking, and for once, she didn't care much if he saw. "Before the deal came due, though, I woke up here."

It explained a lot - why she kept thinking he'd bolt, why she'd been so nervous around Sam when he was little. He winced when she told him about her father, but raised his eyebrows when she told him about the things she'd done with him. And yeah, it made sense. If he hadn't known why she'd done those things and she'd done them to him here, he probably would've gotten pissed. Actually, he would've gotten filled with righteous fucking fury like he usually did.

But he didn't know that Bela. Maybe things would be different if he did, maybe he would never have loved her, but the Bela he knew would never do that to him. And the Bela he knew was scared on the inside, no matter how badass she tried to be on the outside. It made up for a lot.

He took her hand and looked into her eyes. "If that Lilith or your dad show up here, I'll kill them both. Thank you for telling me. Took guts."

	Bela saw the look on his face, and by God, he was serious. She swallowed, nodding, smiling a little. "Given what you just said ..." 	Dean stood up, his knee cracking loudly. "Don't worry about it," he hissed out, voice strained. He chuckled a bit afterwards, moving to kiss her. 	Bela's eyes widened momentarily. "Good lord ... am I to summon airplanes with it?" But she was smiling, almost afraid to touch it. "It's amazing." She was still hung up in the reality. He loved her. 	That made Dean laugh. "I almost got you a ten carat, be happy with this. And I figured as an ex-thief, you might want something to keep you on your toes. Other people are gonna want to gank it, you know." He took the ring and slid it onto her finger, pleased that it fit. He kissed her knuckles and smiled up at her. "So. Bela Winchester. 	He knew her. Bela grinned boldly, feeling far less frightened, as well she ought. "That isn't my name, you know. My real name was something far more English and schoolgirl."
