It was a bit surreal being alive again, for the third or fourth time, she'd really lost track. But the other times she hadn't rushed out to meet someone. The other times, she'd come back immediately and hadn't really left anyone behind. But there Joanne was, rushing down the stairs of the large house that Erik had, hoping that he would be there as soon as possible.

She didn't know where he was, or how long it was going to take him to get there, but she was nervous. Nervous because they'd said a lot of things to each other as she was dying, and they both weren't normally like this. But all she could think about was coming back to him.

He'd had other houses he could run to, mostly because it was habit for Erik to have safehouses since he'd been on the run in his old life. And so he'd run to a house in London using the portkey. He'd had the strangest dreams while he was away, but she was always there, talking to him, saying she'd be home soon. And he believed her. But then the missive popped up that she was alive and all Erik could do was freak out inside. She was alive and well and waiting on him.

He'd taken the portkey back to New York and drove like a demon back to his house. The reality of this is that it'd only taken him twenty minutes time to get there, but it felt like he'd traveled lifetimes to get to her. When he opened the door, he'd caught sight of her running downstairs, and all he could think about was her whispers of "I love you" and how nervous he was to hold her again.

Instead of some sort of weird nervousness, as soon as the door opened and she saw that it was him, she ran down the rest of her stairs and over to him. She threw her arms around his neck and held onto him as tightly as she could. Anyone would have said that Joanne had lost her mind, but not this time. She just wanted him to be there, and he was, he wasn't going anywhere.

With her arms around him, she held onto him tightly, her face pressed against his neck and sighed.

He wasn't expecting her to throw herself at him like that, and so when she collided with him, he had to take a step back to balance himself. His arms wrapped around her immediately, and he lifted her off the ground a few inches as she was just as nearly tall as him. "I'm so glad you're safe," he said, his voice muffled against the wide of her neck as he buried his face in her hair. When he was finally able to let go of her long enough, he pulled back to give her a proper look, hands cupping her cheeks before he pulled her into a hard kiss, frantic and full of fire that spoke how relieved he was that she was alright.

"I missed you," she mumbled against his neck in the same way. She held onto him as tightly as she could until he pulled back. She watched him for a moment and then pressed her lips up against his, kissing him back just as frantically. Her hands weren't going to let him go for anything. "I love you." she told him in between kisses, unable to help herself. She just kept kissing him, but not going much further.

"Live with me," he mumbled in between his own kisses, the words out of his lips before he even had a chance to process them. "I missed you, and I don't want you ever to be so far away again." It was strange and how Erik just attached to Joanne like he had, but he'd formed very few relationships in life. Joanne, even though they bickered and drove each other crazy, understood him in ways Christine or anyone else had not. She knew what it was like to be alone, to be an outcast, to not connect with people the way he was expected to. She'd been his first real friend here, his only real one.

The words were sitting in her ears, she'd heard them but she thought maybe she had just heard wrong or something. It took her a minute to figure out what she was doing. "What?" she finally pulled back enough to look at him. "Live with you?" did she hear that right? She must have. ".. I missed you.. I don't want to.. be away from you either but.." she swallowed a bit. "You know we're going to kill each other.." she almost laughed then. "I mean metaphorically .... maybe.." she ran her fingers up into his hair. "Yeah.. I'll move in.. here?"

"Or London...or France or wherever you want to live. I have several houses spread out." As she ran her fingers into his hair, he let out a soft purr. "Things are different now," he said. "I don't think we'll be as annoyed with each other because we're not ignoring how we feel." Which was the truth as far as Erik was concerned. He'd been denying the ever growing feelings for her for a while now, and it'd only made him more irritable when she prodded at particular buttons. It wasn't like she was intentionally doing it, but he retaliated more often than not which lead to most of their bickering.

Joanne couldn't help but laugh again a little, "Oh so that's why we fought? Because we were denying how we felt? Good to know.." she teased. They were going to fight, but she could handle that now, she thought. He was probably right, they did fight because of ignoring how they felt about each other. "We can live in whatever house you want. I'm used to living in the heat and the dry air.. so.. you pick.."

"I'm used to living underground in a cave with minimal lighting. This isn't gong to help the decision at all," he said, the corner of his mouth quirking into a smile. He knew they'd snipe and do the usual thing because they probably couldn't resist pushing the other's buttons, but it wouldn't end up as heated as it used to. He kissed her again and slowly unwrapped his arms from around her, though his hand traveled down the length of her arm to her hand and entwined their fingers together. Bringing their joined hands to his lips, he kissed the back of hers. "Don't ever leave me like that again," he said as he met her eyes. He loathed death, and watching her succumb to such a painful one had torn his heart to shreds.

She gave a large dramatic sigh because he was being difficult, but she didn't really mind. "Well let's see.. let's make it as easy as possible. Here is probably closest to where I live right? So me moving from my place to yours would be the least amount of hassle here.. so.. let's stay here.." that was simple enough right. Kissing him again, she put her hand into his and pressed against him, wrapping her other arm up around his neck, "I won't .. I promise. No more dying.. I couldn't stand being away from you.."

She could probably tell he hadn't slept in days judging from the paleness of his skin and the weariness in his gaze even as happy as he was to see her. "And your shop is here, and I wouldn't want to take that away from you. You love cars." And Erik could understand the feeling. He wouldn't want anyone to take him away from his beloved music. "Would it be forward of me to say I would love nothing more than to go and lie in bed with you right now?" What he was worried about was having thoughts of holding her dying in that bed because those were the only images that'd danced in his mind for the last few days.

"Right.. I'm not sure how to fix foreign cars. Well I do.. but maybe not with foreign.. stuff to fix them with.." she didn't even know. And she really did love her shop. The fact that she wasn't a cop anymore was the best thing. "And I'm your personal assistant and the business really is here.. so.. makes sense.." she nodded a bit. "No, I think we're a little past the whole.. trying not to be forward thing.. lying in bed sounds nice.." she didn't really want to think about dying either but they had to get past it sometime. She took his hand and took him back up the stairs towards his bedroom. "Mmm.. here's the tricky part.. do you want me to stay in your room? Or should I have my own?"

"Screwdrivers and wrenches are the same here as they are there," he said with a smirk. He may not have been a car mechanic, but Erik was an engineer as well as a a musician. Maybe he'd end up spending time in her shop working on vehicles with her. Who knew with him? He had a tendency to flit from project to project. "If I can't feel you in my arms, I won't be able to sleep," he answered as he took the lead and pulled her into his bedroom. As confident as Erik usually was of himself, intimacy was always his failing point. He was still surprised he'd managed to have sex with her and not completely screw it up. But it'd made things awkward between them for a while.

"Oh well see? I didn't even know that.." she mumbled. She'd like it if he helped her with the cars. Actually it was one place where she wasn't so bossy. Working on them seemed to mellow her out a bit, so she was more relaxed. It's what she did when things got stressful. Upstairs, she moved them both into his room. "All right then.. I guess I'll be staying here.." she'd never ever lived with anyone and shared the same bed with them before. This was going to be something else. She kicked off her shoes and knelt down on the bed, pulling him with her.

"I'll teach you some of the finer points of engineering if you teach me how to repair car engines. Agreed?" he asked as he kissed her again, kicking off his shoes and joining her on the bed. Erik was used to the sounds of people in his home when he lived below the opera house. People were always coming and going, and he'd spent most of his time lurking about the rafters playing evil tricks on the ballet rats and the managers. Though this wasn't quite the same since he was allowing a woman in his bed. Even Christine hadn't had that. She'd had her own room.

He lay next to her now, pulling her along side him and trailed his fingers lightly over her side and down her hip, fingers tapping invisible chords. "Will you be happy living here with me? I don't want you to ever regret it."

"That sounds like fun, you've got yourself a deal.." she told him, kissing him in return and laying down with him. She put her own arm around his waist, and over to his back and moved a bit closer to him. She should be freaking out about being so close to someone and letting someone this close, not only physically but every other way. But she wasn't. Death changed things. Yet again.

Her eyebrows raised just slightly, "As happy as I can be for a grouch who doesn't usually like anything and is generally unhappy.. so you know.. about as happy as you'll be living with me.. I won't regret it.." she leaned in and brushed her lips against his chin.

Dark eyes narrowed at her statement, "I'm not grouchy until you make me grouchy." Sometimes that was the truth, but usually he had no reason for it except the fact he was awake. He tilted his head and captured her lips, his fingers running over the small of her back and just underneath her shirt. He was enjoying the feel of her skin underneath his hand, just to remind himself that she was alive and well. Erik was freaking out inside, but his face didn't betray that emotion because he didn't want her to feel uneasy. He had to get used to the intimacy, of having someone this close and letting them in.

"I don't make you grouchy, you make yourself grouchy.." she told him, and then leaned in a bit more so that her face was closer. "I will say though that you are.. absolutely adorable when you're grouchy.. that face you're making right now.. it's cute. Scary. But cute.." she was used to scary and cute in the same sentence apparently. Her mouth pressed against his, kissing him slowly but thoroughly and letting her hands run up and down his back. She had to get used to intimacy as much as he did. They both had to feel their way through this together.

"The Phantom has never been called adorable by anyone," and he narrowed his eyes again as he rolled her onto her back and crawled on top of her, his mouth nipping at her bottom lip. "Dangerous, mysterious, eccentric...even a monster. Never adorable and definitely never cute." Closing his eyes, he settled in between her legs as he ghosted his lips over hers and over her cheek to her ear, kissing lightly behind her lobe. "I'm nervous about this. It's still very new to me," he whispered.

Joanne laughed as she was rolled over and had him climb on top of her. "Never been called adorable, well I guess I'm the first. You're definitely not a monster.. but I'd call you all those other things.. and adorable. And cute." she kind of smirked at him and then kept on kissing him, brushing her lips lightly along his neck and where he was kissing her until they were just brushing up against each other, kissing lightly. Her hands ran up his back a little more freely this time. "I know.. I'm nervous too.. just remember to breathe and not pass out.. I'm not going anywhere, I promise.."

He actually laughed when her lips brushed near the back of his ear because he hadn't realized that it was a ticklish spot for him. "That's a good way to get soothe my nerves." Was this how it would be with them? Being able to just lie in bed together and not feel that there were any kind of expectations outside of just being with each other? He didn't feel the obsessive need to lord over her, control every aspect of her life, demand her love. She loved him just as he was, and above all, he trusted her. She would not hate him because of a horrible face. She had a whole Erik here and no reason to fear him.

One hand started at the bit of exposed skin at her hip and ran upwards under her shirt, carefully memorizing the contours there. His fingers were rough for so many reasons: composing, constructing, making the opera house his playground. His heart pounded in his ears as he arched his hips in between hers, pressing himself into her which caused him to hiss quietly through his teeth.

Oh, she'd found a ticklish spot. She was definitely going to have to remember that. She kissed him quite a bit there, very lightly and grinned. "Glad I could help.." she teased the spot lightly with her tongue and wondered if he was ticklish anywhere else. It wasn't like she'd ever tickled him. Maybe he'd never been tickled before. She pursed her lips in thought for a moment.

She wouldn't fear him even if he had the face he had before. And if lying in bed was what he wanted, then she'd let happily do that. She liked the feel of his hands on her skin and felt him press up against her. She smirked a bit at him and ran her hands up his sides, and then very carefully, dug her fingers in a little to see if he was ticklish.

No, he'd never been tickled before, it wasn't like people were clamoring to even put their hands on him before now. He was fidgeting now as she teased the spot, his shoulder drawing closer towards his neck because it tickled so much that he was trying to close it off from her. Strangely enough, it turned him on at the same time.

As she dug her fingers into his sides, Erik jumped, his eyes widening as his hips ground hard against hers. "Oh god..." and he whimpered, squirming between her legs. "That's not fair!"

Ha, he'd never been tickled, and really only because she was the same size as him was she able to actually tickle him from the bottom. She couldn't help but giggle even if he wasn't really giggling yet. Her fingers continued to dig into him, tickling him quite a bit even though he was grinding into her.

Of course him grinding into her was causing her to get turned on as well, but this was too much fun.

"Ahhh!" he yelped and squirmed, his hands going down to try and grab hold of her wrists to keep her from tickling him further. It wasn't that he hated how it felt, but she was tickling him and he couldn't take much of it as was evident by the way he kept rubbing himself against her as he wiggled to get out of her grasp. Erik couldn't stop laughing, though his sides and hips were moving back and forth to try and dodge her attacks and eventually, he triumphed and got hold of her hands, took them and pinned them up above her head to the pillow. He didn't look angry at all, in fact, there was nothing but mirth dancing in his eyes and a playful smile on his lips.
