Kyle understood her logic, why she had gone rushing off, what led up to them being where they were. Sometimes he had to turn ignore the news and try to cut off the rest of the world just to get a few hours of sleep. When you had the ability to help there came a very heavy responsibility. You felt like you should be out there all the time, saving the lives of the innocent, protecting anyone that you could. When you saw a fire raging on your television set, you didn't just sit there and wish for the best, you did whatever you could to stop it. That was how Solvei must have felt when she heard from Henry. He understood. He would have done the same.
Nodding slightly when she tried to tell him there was nothing he could have done, Kyle still felt guilty, but she was right, it didn't matter right then. Only that they were together. That she was there with him, alive, conscious. Softly he kissed the top of her head, arms staying around her small body, afraid that if he let her go she just might disappear. That maybe it all was a dream. The mind functioned in strange ways when presented with grief. No...she was really there.
"I would stay like this with you forever if I could." His voice was still soft, the words meant only for her, not another soul in the universe.
