In a building nearby, people suddenly began screaming. The screaming grew in volume as dozens of voices joined in. There was the sound of struggles inside, of scrambling, furniture being tipped over. And then, suddenly, Reika stepped out of the side of the building.
She'd been travelling from place to place, hitting only the most populated areas. Buildings had proved to be especially good, because of the amount of people gathered in them who believed they were safe, not expecting Reika to just walk through the barricades they had created and the doors they had locked.
Now she was no more than thirty feet from the group. People. A man of metal. And there was another of those machines she'd been seeing all over the streets, but this one was alive...and then she spotted Henry. Her eyes widened behind her hair.
