What: Reika Attacks New York
Who: Open!
When: 10 AM, Monday morning
Where: Times Square

There had been a house. For the endless night, for the nightmare that never ended. For the memories written in blue ink on her body, all the way into the whites of her eyes. She could never escape them. Only watch, eyes open, and seek out the ones who came.

At 9:56 AM, it began to snow in New York city. The clouds appeared out of nowhere, coalescing with freakish speed, and the temperature dropped only after the snow had begun to fall. Tourists cried out with glee at what they imagined to be a complex publicity stunt. Real New Yorkers, the ones who prided themselves on never looking up, stopped what they were doing and stared at the clouds.

Cars screeched to a stop. Some people fought over the traffic jam that was now completely clogging Times Square. Others ran out of buildings to see what was going on.

Then, in the middle of the street, something began to appear. It wasn't sudden, not at all--it was a slow coalescence of shape and color. A hush fell over everyone. Noises from other parts of the city seemed muffled and quiet. Color seemed to drain from the air itself. And, in the ears only of those who were sensitive to such things, was the ringing of metal against steel...and the voices of little girls singing a lullaby.

"...if the priestess wakes from her dream-
perform the rite of stakes her limbs pinned tight,
lest the doors open wide and suffering unleashed on us..."

Out of the murky vagueness came the figure of a woman walking slowly down the middle of the street. She wore a blue hakama printed with flowers and holly branches, and nothing else. Blue markings covered her chest, arms, and face, and extended down beyond the top of her hakama, implying that the rest of her body was duly engraved. Her long black hair covered her eyes.

Her steps were deliberate and slow. Beat by beat, she made her way toward the crowd of people that had gathered. Some were trying to take pictures with camera phones. She seemed to not even see them there.

She stopped before a woman who was too startled to move. The woman with the blue tattoos held so still it was difficult to tell if she even realized the other woman was there. The New Yorker turned to her friends. "The fuck is this, fucking corporate bull--"

The hand of the tattooed woman shot out, grabbing the woman by the throat. The woman began to writhe, unable to scream. The tattooed woman spoke, her voice echoing out but her mouth never moving.

"I don't want to see..."

Even as tattoos began to run over the skin of the woman being choked, people began to run. One man launched himself at the tattooed woman, screaming for her to let the other woman go. He fell through her. She dropped the woman, who convulsed on the ground, and dove for the man, repeating the same words.

"Don't want to see..."

A horrific figure appeared over the head of the tattooed woman. It seemed to be a skull with wings, and it dove through the crowd, slowing people down to give Reika a chance to reach them. So easy, so easy. She didn't even have to chase them. These people, they would be her Holly. They would share her pain.

"I don't want to see anymore."

Henry had been in a cab on the road when the snow started. Snow? In July? That got him out of the cab, his hand cupped to see if the snow was real. A moment later, it didn't matter, as he watched in growing alarm as the figure of a girl appeared out of nowhere. His eyes widened as she fully formed.

WALTER! The name echoed in his mind and he unconsciously reached for the medicine bag necklace he'd been given while hanging out with Solvei. For the briefest of moments he was panicking and ready to run, and then his brow slammed down and he started breathing again. He didn't know this was Walter, and even if it was, he'd taken him once before. He could do it again.

"EVERYBODY MOVE! MOVE MOVE MOVE!" He was screaming at the top of his lungs as he darted forward, shoving people out of the way as the skull - a ghost as well, he thought - tried to dive at them. "GET MOVING IF YOU DON'T WANT TO DIE!" Off to the side, he saw someone trying to take a picture and couldn't help the look of disgust on his face. Jesus Christ, this guy is a fucking-

The flash snapped and the skull reeled as if it had been struck. -a fucking GENIUS! Henry's eyes widened and he darted over to the man. He was clearly a photographer, and the camera was a good one. If the situation wasn't dire, Henry would have been impressed. This time, he just barreled into the man, yanking the camera away from him. "I need to borrow this," he snapped, and then shoved him in the direction that everyone else was running. "Move!" And then he was gone back into the crowd, trying to keep people from getting struck by either ghosts.

It was his quick movements that caught Reika's eye. She turned her head, watching as he tried to get people back.

The skull turned from what it was doing and swung around, heading toward Henry. Reika walked through the crowd toward him. Her gait growing quicker with each step. She trailed her fingers along the skin of anyone who came too close. She didn't even have to try, really. But the one who was trying to keep them back...she would have him. If she couldn't have Kaname, no one could have this man either.

Henry's eyes widened as he saw the ghost approaching. He raised the camera, thanking god that he was a photographer and thus able to find a good shot in a reasonably quick amount of time, and started clicking the shutter repeatedly.

And got nothing. Christ, I really am a magnet for bad luck... Well, he still had his medicine bag. Maybe it would work? Maybe. But what choice did he have? Either he ran, and maybe she focused on someone else, or he stood his ground and hoped the medicine bag would do the trick.

It was an easy choice. "C'mon!" He thumped his chest with his free hand. "You think I haven't dealt with your kind before? You think you scare me?" He actually stepped toward her now, his face hardened in determination. "Try me!"

Her eyes widened. She would have him. One more pulled back from the rift. One more held close to her, kept always from peace. Maybe this would be the one that soothed the holly.

She reached out to grab hold of his neck and stopped. Something seemed to be preventing her from making contact with him. She pressed against the unseens force, trying to get past it...but it was no use. Her rage at being thwarted was practically palpable in the air around them.

Henry's eyes widened as he saw her struggling to touch him. This was good, he could use this. She was clearly angry at this turn of events, and that meant he could use it to his advantage. He just hoped that everyone around would have the good sense to get the hell out of dodge while he was doing this. "Run out of juice?" He smirked, lifting his chin and narrowing his eyes in a clearly challenging gesture. "And here I thought you might actually be powerful. Silly me."

She moaned a little, her frustration mounting. no no no no no. don't want to SEE.

She lashed out again, but was still unable to connect. The snakes tattooed on her body seemed to writhe, and the ghosts in the crowd became suddenly more violent. The screaming already in the air became even louder as more people were hit, and the air around them darkened. But still, no matter how much she strained...nothing.

Solvei made it to Time's Square as fast as she could. Chaos was the name of the game in New York City today. It was snowing. In June. She knew that something wasn't right as soon as she stepped foot outside of her home. Knowing just like she was a chosen one. She had read Henry's voice post and she had her favorite scythe in a sheath at her back.

Once she had made it to the area it was chaos itself had unraveled. People were screaming or writhing in pain on the ground. She saw the figure of a woman who was shadowed with blue tattoos all over her skin. Not exactly sure what she was dealing with exactly. It didn't matter. There were people in trouble and she had to help. That was what she was made for.

Running forward and taking her scythe from the sheath she shouted, "Your time is over now lady." She raised her sword for the killing blow. That was all well and good, but the sword went right through her. Solvei paused for only a moment when she felt the grasp of the woman on her arm. The time wasn't over for her opponent. It was probably over for her now.

Reika held tight to her shoulder, reaching for Solvei's neck. It would be easy, very easy, to choke her until she was cold. Pain. It was all about sharing pain. Share the holly, share the memory. She'd make them see.

Her eyes were wide, fixed on Solvei. Even the whites of her eyes were tattooed, the blue markings stretching into her iris. The memories flickered at the edges of her vision, and she made sure that Solvei saw them. Little girls with hammers and stakes. A figure with a cowl. A young man holding a lantern, falling again and again to the ground, lifeless. Over and over and over. She didn't want to see it anymore.

When the woman touched Sol's arm it went completely numb. It felt like the fingers of death had paralyzed it in motion from swinging her scythe. The clatter of her scythe hitting the ground sounded like glass shattering from all directions. In reality, it was Solvei's own screaming in her ears.

Her eyes, full of memory. Sol tried to turn away but she was transfixed at looking into the images. The images would not go away even after the woman had turned away and left her. She fought to stay on her feet but the pain and agony of the little girls and the shrouded figure...

Solvei was able to pick up her phone and leave a voice message.

Kyle... She hoped that her mental ping would work. Or someone would hear her message.

In all reality she knew that she had failed. Failed in her sacred duty to protect all of the people that it was her job to protect.

She squeezed her tighter, then tighter still...then suddenly dropped her to the ground. She stared down at Solvei's lifeless figure for a moment, then began to drift away. There were so many people here...she couldn't focus on just one of them. They all drifted in and out of her vision, like ghosts coming in and out of existence, flickering. So many more to get to.

Hattie had just wanted to go shopping. That's all. And see Times Square. Really. Unfortunately, it was now snowing, in JUNE, and all she'd worn were capri pants and a tank top.

Pregnancy made her hot.

Holding bags, she stared in complete shock at the woman standing there. Hattie had seen many things, all over the universe, but this.... this was something else.

"Are you o-" She had been about to ask if she was okay, after all, the hair in her face probably made it difficult to see, but then she'd grabbed the woman next to her and Hattie found herself unable to move. Fear? She wanted to think it wasn't, but it probably was.

Reika dropped the man that she'd been holding tight to her chest to the ground, and her head snapped up to stare at Hattie. Her hir fell away, exposing one eye, tattooed with the same marks that covered the rest of her body...all the way into her iris.

Another one. Come so close, now frozen. Easy. She moved toward her with sudden, frightening speed, stretching a hand out to grab her.

Shock registered on Hattie's face when the woman grabbed hold and suddenly all she could see were memories that weren't hers and feel pain that came from a place she didn't recognize. A small shake of her head as the feelings became overwhelming. She couldn't scream, yell or even whisper for help.

Kitt. Kitt would come for her.

She pulled Hattie close to her, her eyes blazing. Phrases echoed over and over, words that seemed to have nothing to do with what was happening. Don't want to see...let me sleep forever.

When she felt the curse take hold deep within the soul, she dropped the girl. Now the snake and holly would begin to devour her. One more on the list that was now nearing hundreds.

Kitt was a few yards behind Hattie, arms full of shopping bags, when he saw what was happening. His eyes widened first in surprise, then in shock, and then the bags were dropped to the ground, forgotten.

He didn't know whether to run towards Hattie, or run away. Watching the strange tattoos beginning to spread over her rapidly decided him.

Not only was he running away, as soon as he could manage it, he would be driving, at least until he could put enough distance between himself and what he had just seen happen to have some time to think.

OOC - Just reacting, no attacking, please!

Bobby had made it safe through the portkey with all the things that they all might need to get rid of a ghost on a duffel on his shoulder. He hadn't even gotten the man/car's name that he was supposed to meet on 7th Ave. between 46th and 47th streets. All he knew was to look for a black Trans Am. Normally he'd be confused by a car saying that his wife got hurt. Today he wasn't even thinking of it.

He stood away from the chaos in an alley keeping an eye out for the TA, Dean, or Mira. He hadn't seen any of them so far but he had his sidearm in his hand with rock salt rounds packed into it.

Kitt pulled up soon after, his scanner flicking back and forth in an agitated manner. What he'd just seen had horrified, and angered him, and he was more than ready to go hunting. Afterward, he'd deal with the grief. Right now the only thing he wanted to concentrate on was the anger.

He had no idea who he was looking for. He figured they would find him.

Bobby saw the car pull up and as he was watching his back and his surroundings he went up to the driver's side door.

Not knowing how to address the situation he just leaned in and said, "You the car with the wife?"

He knew she didn't want him to be here for this, but Tony couldn't stand there and watch Pepper suffer. He had given Edward over to Sophie for safekeeping, told Remy he loved her and to watch over the two of them until he got back. He flew up over New York City with Jarvis patched into his HUD, looking for this thing or anyone who might be able to direct him and his firepower. He could be an asset if they needed to bring it down because he had enough strength and explosives with his suit to decimate a portion of the city.

He saw a small group gathering in the area and he zoomed down and dropped, landing with a loud thump to the ground. His faceplate slid out of place and revealed the man inside of the metal suit. "If you guys are trying to kill her, tell me where to aim." He had a look in his eyes that screamed he'd just watched a loved one suffer through something unimaginable and he was ready to take action.

Kitt was the car with the wife, and it was a long story, so he just replied, "yes."

When he saw the strange metal-clad man landing nearby, Kitt immediately recognized the look in his eyes. It was the same one he'd had not long before. Thankfully, he had some armor of his own, not only protecting him from the physical threat, but from the emotional pain as well. The car was the best poker-face around.

He waited, wondering what Bobby had in mind next.

Dean waited for his brother on the outskirts of New York, waiting for him to arrive before hotwiring a car and moving into New York proper. He hefted his bag over his shoulder, sort of nervous about carrying around a damn arsenal in a duffel bag in freakin' New York City.

Dean 'oof'ed slightly as Sam hit him. "And you're like a freakin' pillow." He chuckled a bit and looked around for a car that was located somewhere nobody would notice it missing for a while, as well as one that was easy enough to hotwire.

He found an older Volvo, and pulled his slim jim out of his bag. He chuckled when Sam automatically covered him. "Think we do this too much, Sammy?"

"It's an older model - ha!" Dean opened up the car, plunked his butt in the driver's seat, and started to hotwire it. That didn't take as long; he was a lot better at making cars go then unlocking their doors.

"I've got a bad feeling about this, Sammy. What can bring down all the phones in New York?"
