who. Eve and Lilith
when. Tuesday, after a visit to Sable's Nudity Tuesday bookshop
where. Eve's place

Lilith flopped down on Eve's couch, a trench coat wrapped around her body. Though nudity had been welcomed at Sable's store, it wasn't on the street. And Lilith wasn't looking to get arrested. She didn't get the nudity hang up that everyone seemed to have. Lilith loved her body. Having never bitten from the fruit of the tree of knowledge, she'd never felt shame about herself. She followed the laws of the land because it was the smart thing to do, not because she preferred to keep herself covered.

She'd enjoyed herself at the bookstore. Not enough people had had the courage to go nude. Lilith had tried to convince Eve and Mary, but both had refused. It was just as well.

Mary had had to return home to check on her kids. Lilith, not really wanting the night to end, had followed Eve home. "So," Lilith said from her spot on the couch, propping her feet up on the nearest table, "This is your place. Nice."

Eve frowned a bit as Lilith sat on her couch. Not because she was unwelcome but merely because it made her trenchcoat slide down her legs. Eve turned her eyes away, her face a slight blush although she had already seen that and the rest of Lilith in her full entirety earlier. Nakedness still made her a bit shy or nervous, though.

Eve had the shape of a mother while Lilith had the shape of a woman. And in the back of her head, there was still an unpleasant sensation of the idea of nakedness, as when seeing a stove you had previously burnt yourself with, your hand tingles from invisible flames.

"Thank you," she said, setting her books on the table. "Do you need anything?"

Lilith was slender where Eve was all curves. And though she was older, Lilith appeared a good few years younger. She admired Eve's body even when it was normally covered with an overabundance of clothing. Lilith often kept this opinion to herself for the sake of not making Eve feel awkward.

"No, I'm good," Lilith said with an easy smile. The way she spoke, it was like she was completely content. It was Lilith's nature to live in the moment and to feel strongly. When she was happy, everything in life was good. When she was angry, everyone knew it. When she was sad (which was rare) there was little to be done to cure her of her sadness.

The trench coat was open enough that a triangle of her bare chest showed. "Did you have fun tonight?"

Eve noticed this minute detail and kept her eyes strictly trained on Lilith's face. Eve wasn't like Lilith. She didn't see women the same way. She had a strong dislike of men but she also didn't share the particular love of women Lilith seemed to have. She felt pity, felt a painful community with the women of the world, but she didn't feel the strength, the pure beauty of womanhood Lilith seemed to see.

She'd never...seen a woman like Lilith, and she had begun to think (not in piteous or submissive way towards herself) that Lilith was perhaps how women were supposed to be. In a way she respected, envied even, Lilith. But she kept such things to herself. Eve did in fact have some self-respect and awhile ago she would have thought herself a leader, never a follower. And years ago she would have painted herself, rebellious even but there was no resemblance of that now, sitting down next to Lilith. But not that she minded. Whatever qualms Eve had with women or humanity or God, she was perfectly content right now as she sat down next to Lilith.

She wondered why the woman followed her home as Eve didn't find herself particularly interesting and Lilith spent most of her time getting offended at the way Eve acted. It wasn't on purpose by either's parts. They just clashed.

Eve settled down next to her and began to braid her own hair idly. When she was in Eden, she used to braid her hair everyday, but never had anything to fasten it with so by twilight, her hair had broken free and became a wild, wavy mass that would flow behind her as she ran. And when she woke up the next day, she'd begin again.

"What do you want to do?"

It really was a miracle the two got along so well when they were so very different. And Lilith seemed to try to find time to spend with Eve. Lilith didn't know why she did this. Maybe it was because they'd both known Eden and Adam and a young God. Maybe she was just drawn to Eve. The reason wasn't really that important to Lilith.

"What would you be doing if I hadn't come over?" Lilith suspected she was going to say something a bit dull. She'd try not to be amused in hopes of not pissing Eve off.

"Ummm. I'd probably be reading or taking a bath," she answered honestly even though her honesty was humiliating. Eve often spent her evenings alone here, doing similar tasks. She got dreadfully lonely some days but yet she didn't walk outside her door where people would be found. It was a bit like watching a movie and knowing the ending or playing a game when you knew the cheats. Pointless. So she stayed.

There was a little smirk on Lilith's lips. She hadn't been able to control herself completely. Her night probably would have been spent out. She liked clubs and bars and roaming the city. "You do that every night?" Lilith asked, genuinely curious.

Eve frowned a little, thinking. "Well sometimes I talk to Lucifer or just walk around," she said shrugging. She knew how boring that sounded but sometimes she could be content just with simple things like that.

Then again, sometimes she wasn't.

Lilith liked Lucifer as much as she could like any angel, but he wasn't really her idea of a fun time. "Sister," Lilith said, looking over at her friend, "You've got to shake things up sometime." Eve acted like an old woman. Lilith very much wanted to change that.

"I think this place shakes things up enough without my help," Eve said although she already knew Lilith's response to that, just as she has foresaw the last one.

Eve shifted and brought her legs up onto the couch, laying down a bit without kicking Lilith off or invading her space. A little more comfortable, Eve looked at Lilith through her legs.

"And I'm not anti-fun or anything. It's just nice to relax sometimes," she said, trying to defend herself. She didn't know why she felt the need to. Who cares if Lilith thought she was boring? She shouldn't, that's for sure. Then why did she?

Eve leaned back and Lilith got a good view of her legs. She didn't leer, but her eyes lingered a moment longer than necessary. It made Lilith want to lean back and give Eve a little show, too. But Lilith didn't have shorts on underneath her jacket. And she didn't think Eve would appreciate being flashed. Lilith settled more comfortably into her space, instead.

"You relax too much," Lilith said, stating fact lightly. "Next time I hit up a club, you're coming with me."

"And you party too much," she shot back. "Don't you ever get bored? The same old songs, the same old drinks that give you headaches and the same old Adam-clones trying look down your shirt or get you in bed. Doesn't that bother you?"

The words made Lilith think, but only for a minute. When things got tiresome, she moved around to a different club or city. She didn't really grow tired of it. "Not really," she responded coolly, with a loose shrug. "I have sex with who I want," male or female, "and reject the hell out of any man who reminds me too much of Adam." She paused. "If a place gets boring, I leave for somewhere else."

Eve straightened a bit and leaned forward, looking at Lilith. She was silent for awhile, thinking before addressing the other girl. "But don't you believe in there just being two people? In love? How can you just sleep with as many people as you want?" she asked then wondered if this ideology was something imprinted in her by God, but she continued anyway.

"Don't you ever just want to settle down? At all? Wake up every morning to the same face beside you?"

Eve couldn't really help it, but she was a romantic. Whether because of what she had been brought into being to believe or of her own accord, she got attached to people and couldn't just have...casual relationships. She couldn't imagine someone touching her that she didn't love or at least care for.

The conversation was getting quite serious. Lilith normally didn't sit around and think about her motives. Still, she knew what she was doing when she did it. And the reasons were simple enough that she didn't need silence to think them over. "I tried that already, sister. It didn't get me anywhere. I'm not getting married again." She looked at Eve, "You hear about how marriage works these days? How most relationships end in failure? Why go through all that mess when you can just have some fun?"

Lilith depended on herself. And though she had friends, she could survive without them. Leaving the garden had taught her the importance of self reliance. "I don't want to settle down or fall in love. If I like a boy or girl, I might keep in touch after we fuck. But I'm not trying to get things messed up with feelings."

"Okay," Eve said, sitting back again and leaving it at that. She didn't personally like the answer but she couldn't change the way Lilith thought or the way she thought. They were different and she knew that.

So she didn't argue.

Lilith raised a brow and watch Eve curiously for a while. It was odd to Lilith that she would just back down like that. But then, they were two very different people. "Okay," she echoed Eve.

"Do you want to borrow some clothes?" she asked, although she was expecting a no.

"Nothing," Lilith said, leaning back a little to reveal a bit of thigh. She almost smirked as Eve asked about needing clothes. "No, thanks," Lilith said. She doubted she'd be able to really fit into Eve's clothing anyway.

"I should probably get going, huh?"

Eve really didn't want her to go. Eve could handle being alone when it's the way it's always been, just her but feeling the empty space of someone after they left often got to her. Especially when someone had such a large space in her life like Lilith, who seemed to wiggle herself into any moment and unleash her huge personality, taking it over.

"You can if you want to," she said, pretending it didn't matter. Eve didn't like to think of herself as submissive, but in a way she was. Because she certainly wasn't dominant and what else was there? But right after she said that, she added, "But you could sleep over it you wanted, I have an extra bed."

Lilith played absently with a button on the jacket. Eve wouldn't have offered if she hadn't wanted her to stay. And, really, Eve's place was nicer than the tiny apartment Lilith rented. "You sure I can stay?" Lilith did have some manners.

Eve shrugged. "I wouldn't have offered if you couldn't," she said. "Unless you don't want to," she amended and was careful not to sound needy.

"Are you hungry?" she asked. It would give her something to do and a reason for Lilith to stay. Eve was not completely innocent. She wasn't in Eden anymore, after all. She was persuasive if nothing else. She had convinced Adam to follow her into damnation, although she supposed that wasn't that hard. But she often thought like this, how to play her words, her actions to keep interest or get what she wanted and she'd gotten fairly good at it.

Eve smiled. "Okay," she said, getting up slowly and moving to the kitchen, looking at what she had.

She wondered if things like that made Lilith angry or annoyed. Eve wondered if Lilith liked her. Why the girl hung out with her, stayed around. Eve also wondered if those shorts made her look fat.

Lilith remained behind on the couch, watching Eve go. If she'd been able to read thoughts, she would have laughed at Eve's insecurities.

After a few minutes had passed, she rose from her spot and walked into the kitchen. She went to the fridge and looked for some left overs.

If Lilith was the ultimate feminist woman (which she very well could be), Eve was the perfect housewife. Somethings can naturally to her like cooking, mothering, compromising. So when asked 'What do you want for dinner?' most of the time she would respond 'I'd don't care...what do you want?' It wasn't something she did on purpose and that wasn't to say she had her snappy moments, where she dominated and put people in their place. Just generally those conversations were saved for religious persons and men that reminded her of Adam.

And she didn't cook things that reminded her of Adam, at least not for herself. She very rarely had meat and currently had none in her house. She had, in some time, come to be kneeling on the counter, sifting through the cabinets.

"I saw eggs, things for salad, pasta, soup...anything sound good?" Eve asked, looking over her shoulder at Lilith.

It was funny how very different the pair were. Lilith didn't shy away from things that reminded her of her former husband. She liked to do things that did, in fact. It was her way of sticking it to him. "Eggs are simple and easy." And Lilith liked things that were simple and easy. She also didn't want to put Eve through the trouble of making a real meal.

"Scrambled?" Eve asked, guessing. She wanted to see if she was right, for one, and also because she happened to make very good scrambled eggs.

While waiting for an answer, Eve got out the eggs and started bread for toast, putting some in for Lilith too. She didn't mind doing stuff like this, especially if it meant that Lilith stayed around. Lilith wasn't as big of a talker as Eve was, but the company was nice. Knowing there was another living breathing body in the house was nice.

"Sure." Lilith didn't really cook. She relied heavily upon a microwave, take out, ramen noodles, and cold sandwiches to get by. It seemed as though she just didn't have it in her to be domestic.

Lilith got out of Eve's way but kept an eye on how she did things.

Eve grabbed white cheese, chives, and a spice from the cabinet and added it to the eggs she had already started in a pan. She got two plates out and ketchup, just in case. Eve was a wonderful multi-tasker and moved around a kitchen with ease, getting the toast ready while managing the eggs at the same time.

Eggs always cooked quickly and it wasn't long before Eve had plated and handed half the eggs to Lilith, sliding a fork and napkin into her other empty hand.

"You're good," Lilith complimented as she was handed her plate. She'd watched Eve's hands fly. She was a natural. Lilith didn't wait until they were seated, taking her fork as she walked to the nearest table and stabbing some eggs. She tried it and seemed impressed. "Very good," she said.

Although Eve was very formal about many things, she didn't like formal dinners and dressing nice or even sitting down. Her table was often used a holding place for mail and whatever else she hadn't found a place for yet. She scooted some papers out of the way with her butt and sat down on the edge, eating herself.

Eve allowed a small smile, pleased with the compliment, responding with a 'thanks' before taking a bite of her toast.

Instead of sitting at the table, Lilith chose to stand across from Eve. She leaned on a counter and placed her plate on it. They ate in silence for a few minutes. The whole place seemed extremely comfortable and lived in. It was a nice change from what Lilith was used to. Her place was nice, if small. But it didn't really feel like a home. She didn't mind that. She did note, however, that it was nice to share a meal with someone. In Lilith's book this counted as a real meal.

When they both seemed done, Eve set her dish in the sink, starting to clean up. She left everything in the sink (cleaning dishes being her least favorite chore) promising herself to do them later.

However, now she didn't know what to do or how to entertain Lilith, which she felt inclined to do. It didn't work well for her when she had nothing to do with her hands and no task to accomplish. For Eve, it was necessary to take care of others people, but now that someone was here, she didn't know how to respond.

Lilith glanced up at the clock. It was almost midnight. Which meant she'd probably be in bed before one. This was almost unheard of for Lilith. "Let's see the guest room," she suggested after a moment of lingering silence.

Eve nodded and walked past Lilith, leading the way. She walked down the hallway, past her own room, the only room with the door kept open.

She opened a different one that was fairly plain compared to her own. There was a plant in the corner and neutral colors that she hadn't bothered to change on the walls. The ceiling was high and there was one window to the right of the bed, that only let in darkness now.

"I have linens and such, if you like?" Eve added, letting Lilith take in the room herself. It wasn't much, but the bed was comfortable. She hadn't put much effort into this room, unlike the master bedroom she occupied and it showed.

Lilith had tried to peek into Eve's bedroom, but they'd walked by it so quickly that she'd only caught the briefest of glimpses. The guest room was plain, making it obvious that Eve didn't have company over much. The bed seemed unused, which was fine with Lilith.

Lilith unbuttoned the highest button of her jacket, revealing even more skin. She couldn't help herself. If she thought Eve wouldn't react badly, she would have shed the damn thing a while ago.

Lilith headed back toward the door and then hesitated in the hallway. There was a part of her that wanted to sneak into Eve's room for a peek when Eve wasn't around. But she couldn't do that. She didn't want to risk getting Eve angry. She liked Eve too much for that. Lilith turned and hopped onto the bed. It was softer than it appeared.

Eve noticed that slight change in Lilith attire and raised an eyebrow, but also didn't pretend she wasn't looking this time. If only for a second. If Lilith was going to show it, it wasn't Eve's fault if she glanced, right? Lilith was a very beautiful woman, after all.
