Who: Sweeney Todd and his dog, Dean Winchester and his dog
What: Dog walking
When: Late night Thursday
Where: London
Warnings: Nothing horribly forseeable except perhaps a lot of swearing?

Sweeney wasn't too upset by the new member of his slowly-growing group of acquaintances. The new pet was not enough to push him over the fine line between affection and ire, and in fact... well, he kind of liked the mongrel dog. She was calm, well behaved, and would patiently wait at the door with her leash in her mouth if she needed to go out.

Horrible guard dog, but she was a companion, one which Sweeney couldn't get angry at, or be upset by. She seemed like a smart dog, but in his opinions, dogs were not like men, and didn't have a good sense of understanding.
And she seemed to want to go out. And Sweeney had the itch to take another long walk. So he fastened the leash onto her collar, locked up behind them, and started in an aimless direction, humming to himself. The dog trotted beside him, sniffing the occasional tree or fencepost or street light.

Dean was out walking Roxy. He'd managed to sneak out while Sam was asleep, and Che was there to comfort him if he woke up suddenly. With all the to-do about Sam deaging, Roxy hadn't been walked as often, and it reflected in how bouncy and frolicky she was being. Dean waited patiently as she sniffed a streetlight, making sure to get it from every angle.

He noticed a figure coming down the street, still shadowed, and he nodded slightly toward it. Dogs made fast acquaintances.

The figure in question nodded in return, more a bow of his head than anything. He held onto the grip of the leash and held Kage back from the other dog for as long as possible.
Sweeney smiled at the owner of the black dog, a brief, small thing, before he realized that Kage had stopped. "Oh." He blinked down at the dog, "Yes, she's very pretty, that other dog, but that doesn't mean you've got to befriend her."
He looked up at Dean, "My apologies."
He was still just as pale and eerie as ever, his hair even somewhat more a mess than it usually was due to his not having combed it out since the morning. He might have looked entirely like a lunatic, if it weren't for the sharp suit he was in.

Dean would've felt more nervous around Tall and Creepy if he hadn't been packing, but as it stood, he was still a quick draw, leash in hand or no.

"Don't worry about it. Dogs will be dogs. And Roxy sure does like being told she's pretty, don't'cha, girl?" He leaned down to pat Roxy's flank.

"I see. Well, until they're done sniffing..." He said, looking down at Kage with a furrowed brow as she nudged the other dog slightly and sat down, wagging her tail. He sighed and shook his head before offering his free hand. "Sweeney Todd, pleasure."

Dean chuckled and accepted the stranger's hand. "Dean Winchester, nice to meet you." He cocked his head to the side, trying to think of where he'd heard that name before. Sam had mentioned it before, he was sure, but like so many things Sam said, he hadn't really been listening.

His handshake was firm and assured, and then retracted his hand, patting Kage's head as she looked up at Dean, panting and happy. "I never had a pet before her. Well, a horse, but that's different. How about you?" He realized that Kage had pretty much decided that she'd be taking a break right there and he wouldn't have any choice in the matter.

"Same. As a kid, my family moved a lot - Marine brat - and we didn't want to put a pet through that." The lie came again easily, and Dean barely had to think of it to say it. Roxy had moved onto sniffing Sweeney, and Dean had to pull back on her leash a bit.

"Roxy, no." He scolded her firmly. "Not everyone's as up front as you."

He looked down at her with a raised brow, a small smile coming to his face, "Half forgot they do that. S'alright, I'm fine with it. Well, not exactly, but s'better her than someone else." He crouched down to offer his hand to the larger, blacker dog to sniff. "Easy, girl. Roxy, was it?" He looked up at Dean.

"As for me, I never had the need for a pet. Had too much work and not enough time for one." It was at least half a truth.

"It's short for Roxanne. Maybe she'll grow into her name as she gets bigger." Dean let up on the leash a tiny bit, giving her a bit more room so that she could sniff the stranger again.

"They are demanding little things, aren't they?" He leaned down to pat Sweeney's dog. "She sure is sweet."

He nodded, slipping away slowly from the other dog, knowing well enough that fast movements spooked him, and he had heard once that dogs were easily spooked by fast motion.
"Demanding, yes. And she is -- a friend gave her to me yesterday, said I needed a guard dog. Not much good at that, but she's very good at greeting the customers." He looked up, "You've got an American accent. Been meeting quite a few Americans here, as of late."

"Hey, she could lick things to death. That always sounded like a bad way to go. Right up there with drowning." Dean chuckled, fully aware he had a morbid sense of humor.

Dean nodded, wondering if the guy was a local or if he would know about the Vortex. "Yeah, I was brought here a few months ago. I take it you're from London originally." Not brilliant conversation, but Dean didn't know what else to say.

The morbid sense of humor was a pleasant surprise, and he chuckled, nodding, "Worst way to go's in a fire, I hear." And boy, did he hear it. A lot. And often as he spoke to Mrs. Lovett.

"Yes, originally. Different time. I died in 1843. Work related accident." He said with a wry smile. "My apprentice decided he'd rather see my throat slit than deal with me any longer. Came here a few days ago myself, though I don't remember the Vortex, I'm sure it was that."

"Well, yeah. It's 'cause you're alive for a lot of it." Dean grinned cheekily, glad that someone else could appreciate the gross as much as him.

His eyes widened. "1841, huh? Man, all the technology and shit must be messing with your head." He winced a bit upon hearing that Sweeney had died. "Wow, that's... huh. If the apprentice is around, I wouldn't blame you for avoiding him."

"Fourty-three, and yes, it's been bothersome to assimilate, but I'm getting used to it. Have learned to use the computer rather well, don't know how I managed to learn how to type, but I'm not going to argue with it." He dug in his pocket and pulled out two dog treats, asking with no words, just an expression, if it was okay that Roxy could have one.

"As far as Tobias is concerned, if he were to show up here, I'd do him one better and have him done in by an assassin, just for the trouble of being bled out. Eye for an eye. Not that I'm particularly fond of the idea of him, or anyone else from my time showing up." He shrugged one shoulder.

"Hey, you're better than me. I still have to type with two fingers half the time. Dean nodded, letting Sweeney know that Roxy was okay for another treat. She'd burn it all off from running around the mansion anyway.

Dean's eyes widened. "You're... really open with the homicide," he chuckled. He hoped it was hyperbole, but honestly couldn't fault the dude. Being killed was probably something you didn't get over.

He gave one of the treats to Roxy and then the other to Kage. Kage gladly took the treat, her tail thumping on the ground as she snacked. He shrugged one shoulder at Dean's comment. "Well, you know... made a business of it once. Done with that, now." He pulled out a business card (which was in fact, just as part of the past as he was) and held it out to Dean.

It read:
Sweeney Todd
Master Barber
Shaves, Trims, Cuts, Bloodletting
[address] Fleet Street (Just above Mrs. Lovett's Pie Shoppe)
London

And on the back of all that was his phone number, which he'd scribbled down after coming to this world. "Do come in for a trim if you need one. I still use my straight razors instead of electric, and still give the finest, closest shave in the city."

Dean raised an eyebrow. "Okay. So you just told me you used to kill people, and your apprentice slit your throat. So I'm guessin' you didn't use your straight razors for just shaving. But now you want to shave me. Either I can trust you, or this is the most obvious trap ever laid."

That made him laugh. It was just like home.

He nodded, "S'right. And would the real question is if I'm daft enough to be so obvious." He smirked then, "And the second would be is do you have the balls to trust me?" He shrugged then. "Think about it, Mister Winchester, and at least stop by the shop one day. If you're as interested in the dark and odd as you seem, I'll be getting some new special interest items in for visitors to look at while they wait. A good friend's in the business of buying and selling antiques, and she's got a good lead on plenty of interesting things relevant to my neighborhood."

He tugged lightly at the leash and Kage stood up, wagging her tail and sniffing the side of Dean's knee.

"I do like antique guns," Dean mused. He hated being called a chicken, but he figured he'd hate getting his throat slit a whole lot more. Then again, how bad could a guy be if he owned a dog that looked like an amped-up Benji?

"And knowing her, she knows plenty of those. More than me, likely. I had a small pistol once, but it rarely fired true to the mark and was prone to backfiring instead." He shrugged one shoulder and nodded, "Have a good evening, Mister Winchester. I promise that even if you don't come in for a shave, there'd be something interesting for you to inspect."

And it struck him as appropriate to say 'inspect', simply due to the air of the other man. He seemed like an inspector from his time, only perfectly molded to present society. Quick on the uptake, paranoid -- with the way he worded things to be questions-that-weren't-questions -- it would surprise Sweeney very much if Dean hadn't been an inspector, at least for a short time. He started off, his dog trotting beside him.

Dean gave Sweeney a weak goodbye. The guy didn't really seem like his line of work, not really, but maybe there was information on him somewhere. His curiosity was piqued.

He turned back around to walk towards his house, but to be careful, he doubled back and was sure to lose any trails he may have picked up.
