who. Logan and Rose
what. A Talk
where. England
when. Tonight
why. Rosie has some news she needs to break to her daddy.

After some pleading, Emma had finally snapped. She glanced up from the computer screen, away from a school-wide memo, to focus on her daughter. "No, Rose, I'm not your personal messenger," she said flatly. "If you want your father to know about you, you'll have to tell him yourself."

Rose had pouted and tried to get her way. Emma had been unmovable and eventually shooed Rose out of her room. So Rose was alone and needed to talk to her father. She took a deep breath and left him a message and waited.

She lounged in the living room on a pale couch, arms crossed over her chest. Rose looked thoughtful as she waited for her father. She wasn't sure how he'd take her news. In order to butter him up, she thought of all the possible ways she could make the night more pleasant for him. Maybe she'd treat him to dinner. At his favorite place. Which was, undoubtedly, a bar. Maybe that wouldn't be quite such a good idea.

"Relax, darling," he said with a small smirk. "I didn't say anything about hunting." He'd be good. No torturing. A little healthy fear wasn't a bad thing, but he'd like to know the boy dating his daughter was man enough to not run away screaming at the thought of being alone in the same room with him. Maybe give the kid a chance to earn Logan's respect.

Rose sighed. Her father was ridiculous. She knew this. "If you hurt him, I'm going to be... very unhappy with you," she said it almost sulkily. She didn't really think Gar would easily be frightened away from her. He was a hero back home. He'd faced some enemies who were at least slightly more frightening than the Wolverine. "And if you purposely try to scare him away from me, I'm going to be... even more unhappy." It was a lame threat. She couldn't really threaten her father with anything beyond the silent treatment.

"If he's a good guy, no need to scare him away, eh?" He did sort of want to like Gar. Would make things easier. Of course, he sort of wanted to eviscerate the kid, and those two tended to be mutually exclusive. He would do his very best to stay in line for his daughter. She was sixteen, she was smart and strong and she had to start figuring things out for herself. Didn't make him like the idea any more, though.

"I don't want my b-," she corrected herself quickly. They were dating. Rose wasn't exactly sure if she'd call Gar her boyfriend just yet, "I don't want the boy I'm dating to be more afraid of you than of me," she said stubbornly. Rose raised a hand, balled it into a fist and extended her claws. "I can handle him. If I need to," she added quickly, "But I don't want to be thinking about that. It's not serious right now. I want to have fun and not worry about him turning into a jerk."

"Well, I want to know the boy my daughter is dating." His stubbornness and annoyed tone matched hers. He knew she could handle him. He didn't care. "You're the one who decided it was important enough to tell me." She wanted her father involved, she had it.

"I wanted to tell you so that it didn't come as a surprise. Because it's better that you know so that I don't have to sneak around." Rose had done that before, on more than one occasion back home. But she hated lying to her father. And with his sensitive senses, he must have realized she was spending time with boys anyway. She grumbled quietly, looking down at the ground and kicking a stone, "Maybe I shouldn't have said anything at all."

He shrugged. "Better chance of him not getting killed this way." His eyes were on the road ahead. He gave another shrug, conceding the point. "Up to him. Invite's open." Maybe he should've stuck to his guns. Would've helped if he'd had more experience parenting. He couldn't screw up that badly, right? Emma had a good handle on the parenting thing. If he fucked up, she'd yell at him and tell him how to fix it.

Rose fell silent for a few minutes, arms crossed over her chest. Her face softened a little as they walked on. He was willing to concede a point. That was a big deal. And really, Rose couldn't stay mad at her father for long. He was her favorite. "Are you done smoking that awful thing?" She asked in a quiet, almost gentle voice. "We could go get something to eat."

He shrugged, stopping to put out the cigar on a rubbish bin. He wasn't happy about all this, but it was his daughter. He would have to put up with her growing up. Fucking teenagers. Almost as bad as telepaths. "Fine."
