who. Starfire and Carrie Kelley
what. Movies and kicking of the butt
when. Tomorrow
where. NYC

Carrie had spent her night in front of a laptop in her former bedroom. The room that she'd once slept in now was used mostly as a workspace. There were bits of electronics strewn about the floor and parts on her dresser. It was on a whim that she'd decided to message Kory, partially because she was bored and partially because the thought had just happened to cross her mind. It didn't take long for the two of them to make plans. She'd left a little note for Dick that read: Going to hang out with Kory. Make a joke and I'm divorcing you. Seriously. And then she'd run out of the apartment with a small messenger bag on her shoulder and made her way down to the theater. Carrie had texted Kory before leaving to let her know the time and the place. She had enough time to get there a little early. And prepare herself.

Carrie was trying to be a better person. Going out and giving Kory a chance was part of that. It wasn't really Kory's fault that Carrie didn't particularly care for super sweet people, after all. And she wasn't a bad person, if you looked past the bubbly happiness and the weird alien speech impediment.

Carrie made it to the theater early and stood outside, arms crossed over her chest. They'd see the movie and then go crime fighting and then she'd be back home before she knew it. This is what Carrie told herself. And that patience was important.

She followed Star inside the building, pleased to find that most people didn't stop to stare at the orange alien princess at her side. New Yorkers had an odd tolerance for the strange. Though Carrie suspected many were used to mutants and figured Star to be one. "I'm guessing something just gets lost in translation over the interdimensional rift," Carrie said. This was as good an explanation for the weirdness of this world as any, really.

Carrie let Star order food first. And when she'd finished, Carrie was staring a little at Kory's pile of food. Maybe Kory just ate more than the average human being. Maybe it was an alien thing. She walked up to the counter and got herself a Coke and M&Ms. Once she'd laid down money which, thanks to the new job she had plenty of, she turned to Star. "Did you bring a costume or anything? We going to work in civvies?" Carrie had brought her costume in her bag, just in case. "It doesn't matter with me. Either or is fine. Just curious." She led them down to the theater and held the door open for Kory.

Giggling probably more loudly than she should, Kory walked through the door Carrie held open. "I am fine working in the clothing that I am wearing now. But I do not have much of a secret identity. The orange skin, bright red hair, and glowing green eyes do not provide me with much of a choice in that way. I would not be opposed to you wearing your costume if you are so inclined."

Sliding into a seat, she settled her mountain of food next to her, in her lap, and on the floor. Star waited for Carrie to get settled as well, and then held out her nachos to her. "Would you perhaps like to partake of some of my food?"

"Mmm," Carrie said, "I might change. Probably." It was more for comfort than for the sake of secrecy. Now that Carrie thought about it, she almost felt relieved that Kory wasn't going to wear her uniform. She'd seen Kory's uniform. There wasn't much to it and Carrie wasn't much in the mood to be getting an eye full of breast all night.

"Thanks," Carrie took a nacho. She wouldn't eat much. Working out on a stomach full of junk food just didn't seem like a smart idea. The lights dimmed within a few minutes and the previews began. Carrie crossed her fingers for the newest Ratman preview.

Carrie got her wish as the Ratman preview opened on screen, and Starfire found herself being drawn deeper into the preview, nearly losing herself in the darkness of it. Once it was over, and the film progressed onto the next one and the next, she still lingered over the last one. It was interesting to see Mr. Wayne portrayed in that light.

The lights dimmed completely, and the movie began. Star plowed through her massive stockpile of food as Kentucky Smith did his thing onscreen. As the movie wound to a close, Starfire stretched, sucked down the last dregs of soda in the humongous cup and stood. "Ready for the kicking of the butt?" she asked joyfully. She really did love being a crimefighter.
