Candy smiled when he wrapped an arm around her, reaching out to stroke part of him that she assumed was his cheek. She couldn't help beaming; it was obvious that he hadn't thought she'd do that. But it was still him; her brain didn't even register him as scary, or something to be shunned. She just saw her boyfriend. Albeit, her much taller boyfriend.
"You might not be able to get into towns, but I can. I figure we'll find a mountain, build a camp. I can sneak to a town with my glyph and get food, then sneak out. Probably after dark, though, are you okay right now?" She didn't know if he needed to eat, but she thought she'd check. He was still human, after all.
