Who: Candy and Onyxx.
What: Candy rescues Onyxx from the desert on Wild West Day.
When: Monday.
Where: The American desert.

Candy had flown the glyph (which she was proud enough to have made period; it was twice the size of the last one she'd made) at breakneck speed to the desert areas. She was trying to sit in a ladylike fashion, not used to wearing fluffy skirts, while at the same time looking for Onyxx.

She saw the words before she saw him, swooping down in a blind panic before really seeing him. Monster, no, but it certainly was different from how he'd been before. She smiled, shaking her head. He had it wrong; she still had butterflies in her stomach, even when he was made of rock. If anything, she just hoped the glyph could hold their combined weight.

"Onyxx!" She scrambled out of the glyph, trying not to flash him, and ran over. She grinned up at him, studying him. "Are you okay?"

Onyxx hadn't been expecting Candy to find him nearly as quickly as she had. Which is why she found him attempting to inspect the cacti for water and instead ripping them apart. Every time it happened he would swear vehemently and toss the broken, shredded plant pieces away in an increasingly agitated fashion.

When she shouted, he turned and watched her running towards him. He was too nervous about how he looked to go to her, instead letting her come to him. When she got there, he looked down at her, all six-foot-eleven, three-seventy-five pounds of him tensed and ready to back up if she freaked out. "I'm good." He glanced at the cacti. "Them not so much." He would have put his hands in his pockets, but they no longer fit, as his hands were now huge things. "I was looking for water." He wasn't sure why he felt the need to explain the obvious, but he did anyway.

Candy hadn't thought he'd be so tall when she'd seen him from the air, but she looked up at him with curiosity as she'd gotten closer. He wasn't nearly as bad as he'd made himself out to be. Surely, people would've been put off at first - most people weren't here, and didn't crave the not normal - but he was still Onyxx. Same body language, same voice, same adorable demeanor.

She smiled and dug into a cactus as well, wrinkling her nose when something got on her, water or plant guts, she couldn't tell. "Ow," she mumbled, then grinned and offered Onyxx the broken part of the plant. "I don't know if you want to drink this. She was waiting for him to lean down closer to her.

Onyxx considered it for a moment before shrugging his large shoulders, stooping down, and leaning his head down closer to inspect it. It couldn't be any worse than trying to eat the cacti, which he'd also attempted, after pulling out the spines. "Couldn't be worse than trying to eat it."

He was still extremely nervous, and his movements seemed hesitant and cautious. His four lidless, red, pinprick eyes studied her rather than the plant gunk she held in her hand. He wanted to see what her reactions were, so he'd known if she got scared or repulsed.

Candy knew that inside, he was the same person as ever. She'd gladly shared her first kiss with him, and she'd gladly do it again. When he mentioned eating the cacti, she wrinkled her nose. "We'll find someplace that's more hospitable for human life, then I'll get us some real food." She didn't want anyone to try to hurt him, and she knew that if they'd really gone back in time, they'd like try. Her included; witchcraft still wasn't all that popular.

She watched as he leaned over, and then tiptoed up to kiss him on what she assumed was the mouth. It was where his voice came from, and it was below his eyes. It was also smoother than the rest of him, and she smiled as she pressed her lips. He tasted like rock, but in a familiar way, like when she'd kissed her hopscotch stone for luck as a child. "Hi."

The red eyes lit up when she kissed him. He hadn't been expecting it at all, nor had he been expecting anyone figure out where his mouth was. After the moment of shock passed, he wrapped one of his thick arms around her. Wrapping both arms around her would have more or less covered her completely, which was not what he wanted to do. Instead he just held her very gently with that one arm, the plant gunk totally forgotten. "Hey." His voice was much softer when he said it, but there was genuine happiness there. It took him a moment to continue, in a more normal voice, "Don't think I can get into any towns."

Candy smiled when he wrapped an arm around her, reaching out to stroke part of him that she assumed was his cheek. She couldn't help beaming; it was obvious that he hadn't thought she'd do that. But it was still him; her brain didn't even register him as scary, or something to be shunned. She just saw her boyfriend. Albeit, her much taller boyfriend.

"You might not be able to get into towns, but I can. I figure we'll find a mountain, build a camp. I can sneak to a town with my glyph and get food, then sneak out. Probably after dark, though, are you okay right now?" She didn't know if he needed to eat, but she thought she'd check. He was still human, after all.

Onyxx shook his boulder-head back and forth. There was a little grinding noise as he did, like rock sliding on rock. "No way. Like you said, guys in this time aren't nice, and the worst ones will be out at night. I'm not gonna let you go into town by yourself." He knew Candy could take care of herself, but he wasn't going to take any chances. He wanted his girlfriend to be around for the second date. "I'm good for now, yeah. Are you okay?"

	Candy smiled at the sound of Onyxx shaking his head. It obviously didn't hurt him, and she continued stroking him gently. "I'm fine for now, but I'll probably get hungry later. Don't know. Onyxx glanced up at the sun and then move a little, blocking it for her. The sun meant nothing to a guy with stone skin. "I have an idea." It was said in that tone that let people know that it wasn't a particularly good plan. "We're going to need to find someone really, really tall." He hesitated, unable to say the next part right away. It wasn't that he had any moral compunctions about it, really. He just didn't think a guy that's supposed to be a superhero should suggest it too readily. When the pause had lasted long enough, he finished, "And then we have to mug him."

Candy laughed when he said he had a plan, but she only laughed because she knew that it was probably better than anything she could come up with. "Someone really really tall. Someone taller than you? I could just go and steal some food," she offered. She could see how he didn't want to mug anyone, and it made her kiss him again.

"I'll go along with what you come up with. You're the superhero, after all." She winked at him, finding a comfortable spot on his feet and sitting down. "I'm the felon."

Onyxx was definitely against her sneaking into towns by herself in this time period, especially at night. Either he would mug somebody, or he would waltz into town in all his "mountain man" glory, but the thought of some drunk, grungy outlaw getting her was...less than pleasant. For a moment his eyes grew dark, and then it passed. "We'll mug somebody." He really didn't have any real problem with it. He didn't plan on injuring the guy they would mug, more than absolutely necessary for the removal of clothes anyway.

And then he got a brilliant idea. His eyes lit up, and he held one large finger up in the air in triumph. "EARTH SPIRIT!" He looked down at her, eyes bright. "We'll tell them I'm an earth spirit and that it'll be bad juju if they lay a finger on me!" And then if they do try to attack me anyway, I can't be blamed for hospitalizing them, he didn't add.

Candy blinked. "That's genius. I don't know if you know this, since you weren't in a town, but I woke up in a ... this sounds crazy, but I think it was a saloon. I mean, look at me." She was apparently supposed to be some sort of well-to-do woman's daughter, and she twirled a bit to let the dress flow around her. "There's still Indians, Onyxx. That would totally work, it plays right into their culture."

Part of her felt guilty for getting the chance to see a people that her forefathers had helped to eradicate and then conning them for food and shelter, but the rest of her hoped it went peacefully. Either way, she just didn't want Onyxx to get hurt, or to have to hurt anyone. He was sweet enough where he'd feel guilty.

"C'mon, I'll sit on top of you on the glyph. Want to fly it?"

Onyxx couldn't really cock his head due to how he was built in this form, but he wanted to. Fly something that was controlled purely mentally? After a moment, he shook his head. "Nah. My current emotional state, probably not a great state for flying something with my brain." He paused and then put his hands on his hips. "Did you see any recognizable towns or anything to clue us in as to where this is?"

Candy didn't want to giggle at how cute he was; she didn't want to risk him taking it the wrong way and getting offended. But she had to hide a smile behind her hand when he put his on his hips. It was ... sweet. A visceral reminder that Onyxx was under all of that.

"I don't mind. And honestly, I was sort of focused on seeing you. But if we think about it, deserts are in the south. I'll try and fly more northeast. It's what, one o'clock?" She squinted, looking up at the sun. "It paid to have brothers in the Boy Scouts."

	He was glad she knew what time it was. His watch had broken when he changed form. "Y'know, I'd make an ensign Zulu joke, but you're way too hot to be George Takei and I'm not melodramatic enough to be Shatner." He gestured towards the glyph, which he knew Candy was proud of. "We would!" She was laughing and grinning, and took the chance to pat his leg. She hoped he felt more comfortable around her, hoped he realized that there wasn't a reason to fear her rejection based on appearances alone.

She thought up and the glyph moved steadily upward. It responded to her every will almost as she thought it, and she wiggled her toes in delight. "Lumeric's Six is an anthology of magical textbooks. Sort of a how-to of Abaratian magic. A bookstore here had a copy. I know, I was surprised too."

He hesitated for a moment and then reached out and gently, very gently rested a finger on Candy's hand. One finger covered it almost completely. "Huh. Wonder if I could find my old helmet lying around." The helmet was a metal thing, more like a huge faceplate than a real helmet, with four slits cut into it for his eyes. He wouldn't need it if he got back to normal, but maybe he could rework it to use as part of a superhero suit...

	Slim fingers wrapped around his large one, and she settled back, working to find a way she could rest against him comfortably. "Maybe. Things seem to come through as well as people."
