Who: Phoenix Wright and Mia Fey
What: Meeting Up
Where: Outside Central Park
Warnings: Wouldn't imagine so.

The start of this morning had promised that the day was to be the worst of his life. The meeting with the State Bar had been scheduled for that afternoon. There was no doubt in Phoenix's mind that they were going to strip him of his attorney's badge. How could they not? He'd been stupid. He should have known the evidence was forged. But no, he'd wanted to win, so he used the piece of paper when he knew that it was more than a little suspicious. Klavier, the arrogant kid, had even tried to warn him. But, the funny thing about this all, was the fact that the meeting never took place.

He'd been on his way to get lunch, as if it were going to help, when he'd been pulled through what he could only describe as a portal. Then he was in New York City. It was surreal, didn't make sense, and definitely was objection worthy. But the craziest part? His boss was back. She was alive. How? He didn't know, but at this point, he was beyond asking questions. He was waiting for her, actually, right outside the entrance to central park.

There he was. He looked older, somehow, and more haggard. She didn't like it. Still, she figured that seeing him in the flesh again merited a hug. She stepped over and wrapped her arms around him, smiling in spite of her worries. "It's me, Phoenix. I don't know how or why or what I'm doing here, but it's me. I just keep waiting for Dahlia to show up." It was a joke, but it wasn't funny.

To him, Mia looked just as he remembered, the perfect example of beauty. He'd never told her as much, but he'd thought it. If there had always been one wish he could have granted, it woulda been to bring her back, she was his mentor and best friend. Getting her killer to confess had been good, but it was a hollow feeling, because you realized that just because justice had been served, you still weren't going to get the person you lost back. Feeling her arms slide around him, he hugged her back, smiling to himself.

"How or why doesn't matter to much. At least...not when it means you're here." The mention of Dahlia brought back a few memories, to think that he had ever loved that woman, it almost made him sick. "That's a face I could do without."

"You and me both." Mia wasn't a vengeful person, but it had been nice to bring that woman down. She'd gloated when the spirit of Dahlia Hawthorne had gone screaming back to the spirit world. But that was then, and this was now.

She pulled back, looking at his face. "You promised to tell me what you did to look like that. And where can we start looking for Maya?" She'd forever worried over Phoenix, and if that long face was because of something in this weird world, it didn't look like that was going to end any time soon.

It was different being near her again, especially after what felt like an eternity since the last time that he saw her. Though, in a lot of ways, they could just pick up where they left off. "I..I thought you should know. I made White confess." Of course, she did know what when Maya had been channeling here, but Phoenix figured he should tell her again.

Moving one hand up, he slid his fingertips over his face, he hadn't shaved lately, and he was sure he'd looked better before. "I let you down, Chief." He knew that she would want to know exactly what happened, and he was willing to tell her. "We can...if you have a computer at your place, I can use that. Maybe give a call to the police."

Why hadn't she thought of a computer? She'd been so anxious to see Phoenix, to make sure he was all right. Mia nodded. "I think I can find my way back," she cracked. She was trying to take the edge off the situation; Mia was all for getting down to business, but he looked exhausted. Like he hadn't slept in weeks.

He'd always been intuitive, though, and she stepped back from him, starting to walk toward the direction she'd come from. "I remember White confessing," she said almost abruptly. She'd been proud of him then. "It was great work."

(Really sorry about the delay, this got buried in my email)

Computer was the best way that he'd been able to come up with outside of going straight to the police. "You need some help, Chief?" There were two reasons why Phoenix was asking. First being that he didn't want to let Mia out of his sight. She was just back and he'd taken her death a lot harder than he let anyone else know. There wasn't any way that he was willing to just let her disappear. Like it was a dream. The second being that she had never been that great with computers.

Without waiting for an answer, he stepped after her, wanting to follow the same path. "Couldn't have done it without you." He shrugged his shoulders just slightly. "Wouldn't have forgiven myself if he got away." Not after everything Mia had done for him.
