Who: Domino and Cable
What: meeting again
Where: Syria
Warnings: Hot monkey sex likely.

Domino wasn't nervous. She knew that Cable would be happy to see her, and that they would talk and rant about this place, probably go out and shoot something, and things would pretty much go back to what they'd always been. Which was fine, really. In an unpredictable life, it was good to have something solid.

She laughed a little at her thought. Cable was, after all, very solid.

The goat nudged its way into the hut and she gave it a pat on the head before shoving it back out the door. She'd already decided he was an emergency food source, and in the mean time, he didn't eat much. The stray clothing and ammunition got piled into a basket and she sat on a chair, legs crossed under her burka, waiting for Cable to arrive.

"Nope."

He moved in, carefully, shifting a piece of hut aside, and staring down at the front piece of the goathead... from the back of which extended electronics, mangled beyond repair.

"A robot goat?"

She poked it with her boot. It sparked. "That's weird, even for us."

She shrugged, turning to Cable. "Well, we can either investigate the goat, or go someplace else."

"Or both."

He unclipped some charges and fiddled with them, stringing some wire and made a small cage, into which he force the goat head.

"There, now it can't function mechanically or electronically, or receive or send signals. Now we can move it to New York, and gather materials to investigate it more thoroughly."

"Sounds good to me. How did you get here?"

She looked around. He'd approached on foot, but she knew better than that.

"A jeep I convinced someone to donate to the cause, then hotwired and fueled. It's parked two dunes over."

He waved a hand thataway as he eased the goat head into a bag.

"It will get us back to the portkey, and from there we can head for London, then New York."

"Sounds good to me."

She eyed the rubble. "Nothing of value in there, anyway."

Gun in hand, Domino started in the direction Cable had pointed.

He followed, his eyes split between watching her ass and watching the surroundings. Thankfully, they got to the jeep without worries and he started it up.

"You want to drive?"

It was an easy concession. That way he could watch her and the surroundings.

She shrugged. "It doesn't really matter."

But she got into the driver's seat. "Which way?"

Finally, her life was getting back to normal!

"North by Northwest, 42 miles. There's a compas near the gas gauge."

She started the jeep, heading in the direction he'd told her. "I thought things might be boring, for a minute or two."

He chuckled.

"Boring? Around us? Surely you jest."

"I missed you. And not just because after half an hour we'd had awesome sex and blown up a goat."

He laughed.

"I missed you too, Domino. And not just because you are the best gun and the best lay, and the best person I know."

He poked her gently.

"I missed you."

She tilted her head, giving him a quick smile. "This is probably a conversation we should be having when we're not fleeing from an explosion."

"Time, schmime."

He settled back and grinned.

"Nice weather we're having here. Dry air, dray land, raining metallic goat parts..."

Domino sighed. "Alright, fine. What were you leading up to?"

Cable rarely does or says things for no reason.

"I think we work well as partners. I'd like you to think on the idea of discussing taking out a long term option on exclusivity."

"Legally binding, or informal?"

Important question! Though, really, it wasn't a surprise. Which was, in a way, a surprise itself.

"It's a workable agreement. I accept."

Well, that was easy. Why did people get so worked up over this kind of thing?

"Excellent.Once we get to New York I can start acquiring the equipment we will need."

"For the relationship, or the goat?"

All sorts of important questions are popping into her mind.
