Caradoc was sat on his bunk, journal in hand, idly skimming through the entries that were visible. Evidently, there was a lot he'd missed, coming in when he did. Some of his old schoolmates were here, though he'd yet to hear from any of them besides Evan. One person that he had heard from and hadn't met was his own housemate, Astoria Malfoy. She'd seemed nice enough when writing to her, but face-to-face encounters could be far different, or so he'd learned. He was relaxed and relatively comfortable at least, or as comfortable as he was going to get until his abdomen healed. Even his ribs were sore and he tried to remember whether they'd been broken. There were moments when the memories were as vivid as the island around him and others when they were murky and distant, like looking through old glass. At least he had proof that he wasn't imagining things, however macabre said proof happened to be.
He was glad to be by himself for a while. It gave him time to rest and recuperate without having to consider someone else's comfort level. However, he would have to meet his cohabitant at some point. It would be weird, living with a girl again. He hadn't done so since his early days in the Order, when he and Evan had tried to bury their feelings and go their separate ways. Obviously, it hadn't worked. In the end, both sides knew the truth - an Order member was dating a Death Eater - and in the end, the consequences struck with a vengeance.
However, he was here on the island now and perhaps this was some twisted version of a second chance at living his life the way he wanted. Evan was here as well, and however dangerous a combination that might prove, there was nothing he could do to change it. He would at least attempt to make friends again and learn to survive the challenges presented him.
