Who: Regulus and James Where: The library When: Tuesday afternoon What: A reunion of sorts Status/Rating: Incomplete, moderate
Regulus was quietly perplexed about whatever was happening to him. He was absolutely, beyond any doubt, convinced that he was dead. After all, what else could account for where he was? One moment, he had been on the bottom of a lake, his feet touching the shifting bottom while his hands were pulled taut across his own back. He had been surrendered by bodies on nearly every side, making him feel that, if he could, he would be sick. His vision had been flickering out and some part of him had been utterly panicked. He had known that this was going to end this way, but he had never really thought that it was going to end like this. He had wanted to be saved all along. He had wanted some new, impossible option to present itself. Maybe it was the Inferi that had made him lose his nerve. He had seen Inferi before, but not like this. There were hundreds of them, all in various stages of decay - all reaching for him, all clawing at his skin. He had felt their blunted fingertips push into his robes, find his hair. His body had been too thrashed apart to even fight. That was the most terrifying part. He couldn't even reach his wand; his muscles were tender and torn from the potion that he had tried to obediently drink even as it drove him to the point of insanity.
And then he had been under, in the cold water. So, yes, he had been waiting to die. But he hadn't expected to find this when he had woken up. He had never been sure what he believed in, but he had never imagined anything like this. It was baffling and Regulus felt as if he was stumbling through the motions of something he didn't understand at all. Everyone surrounding him seemed to be handling this so perfectly while Regulus couldn't wrap his mind around anything. Being with other people was suddenly abrasive. He wanted to hide - and he did isolate himself as much as he could.
However, he didn't seem to be going anywhere, which meant that he had to contend with whatever was happening here. So, he had decided that it was time to search for answers. He had explored a trace amount, but finally had headed toward where he had seen a library, thinking it best to do research the old-fashioned way.
