THREAD
Who: Pansy Parkinson and Antonin Dolohov.
When: 26 August 2000, after a visit to St. Mungo's.
Where: Pansy's London home.
Rating: A for awkward?
Summary: Pansy uses her 'concern' for Euan to get brownie points from Dolohov and asks him over for dinner.
While Pansy had certainly been concerned for Euan, spending so much time in Azkaban had to be detrimential to anybody's psyche or sense of personal worth (whatever any of that meant), she was much more concerned with impressing Mr. Dolohov. She'd always been taught that connections were key to anybody's personal success, so she was determined to make the right sorts of connections for herself and Euan. She was already incredibly pleased with Mr. Dolohov's response to her owls concerning Euan's current state, although she felt like her foot was barely through the door.
So, after Euan's initial examination (which, admittedly, had to have been much more awkward for him than it was for her), Pansy had asked Mr. Dolohov to her home for dinner that evening. The gesture was entirely friendly, and perhaps seemed even a bit spontaneous, but it hardly was. Pansy had spent almost the entire day on Wednesday planning the dinner and menu, as well as making sure that the house was spotless top to bottom and appeared to be the perfect society home.
Upon Dolohov's arrival, Pansy had instructed Mimi, one of her elves, to escort him into the formal sitting room for hors d'oeuvres. When the for his arrival finally came, Pansy couldn't deny the brief panic that met her, any sort of misstep with her superior could severely damage her reputation and her standing with the Dark Lord, but the moment was fleeting. Pansy had every confidence in her abilities, and Mr. Dolohov would certainly be able to sense any sort of insecurity, so she checked her appearance in the mirror which readily complimented her, and then she was prepared.
"Good evening, Mr. Dolohov," Pansy greeted politely when Mimi showed him into the sitting room. "Euan and I cannot thank you enough for your kindness, although we are certainly happy to have the privilege of your company in our home this evening." Pansy smiled kindly at him before ordering Mimi into the kitchen to fetch the appetizers which had been prepared. "May I offer you something to drink, sir?" Pansy asked as she indicated the ancient liquor cabinet on the opposite side of the room. "It's regrettable that Euan is unable to join us this evening-- I fear the afternoon's activity took quite the toll on him, so I sent him to bed with a mug of chocolate as you'd suggested."
