Who: Kevin Whitby & Morag MacDougal
What: Morag discovers that Kevin (indirectly) caused a fight between Steve and Rose
Where: Kingscote
When: 15 October 2000
Rating: Low/Med
Status: Closed, incomplete
It was the sort of October day that made Morag feel like she was moving through a pool of molasses: grey and rainy and cold. She had taken breakfast in her room that morning and had taken her sweet time in actually getting out of bed, bathing, and dressing. It was actually her dialog with Steve that finally gave her the motivation to move. Morag knew she was going to have to speak to Kevin about the whole situation. In reality, she didn't really mind that he had gone to see Rose. If she wasn't being entirely loyal, why should he? It was far more of a risk for Kevin to be gallivanting with another's intended than it was for her to do so, and really, in her eyes he was just putting himself in danger. But Steve's reaction (Morag didn't really know the details, but she assumed there was a lot of shouting and it resulted in Rose's leaving) made her realize that she needed to do something. She actually felt sorry for Steve; he had been trying to make things as easy as possible for his fiance and was even starting to have actual feelings for her. "Good for him," she muttered to herself as she brushed out her hair. "At least someone's going about it the right way."
Morag hadn't seen much of Kevin since she brought him to her house. That first encounter had left her with emotions she didn't know how to describe and she was utterly uncomfortable with them. She had accepted that she would need to make an effort to at least get to know him, since apparently neither of them wanted to cross the invisible boundary of physicality without doing so. But Morag had yet to spend much time with him. Now, though, there was an unpleasant issue that needed to be dealt with.
One of the downfalls of such a large home is not being able to find people right away. Morag stopped by Kevin's room and knocked; no answer. She continued through the house until she could hear the soft sound of music coming from the smaller sitting room in the back of the house: the wireless was on. She peered around the door and spotted Kevin, eating breakfast, and without a sound she crossed the threshold.
"Good morning," Morag said, though there was nothing warm or cheerful in her voice.
